Repeat a verse range to memorise: count, delay, reciter
Loop one verse or a range in the Quran reader player. Set the repeat count and the delay, choose a reciter, slow the speed, and add a sleep timer.
On this page
The Quran Gallery player can repeat one verse, or a run of verses, as many times as you choose. It is the same player you use to listen, so there is nothing extra to install. You do not need to sign in to listen or to repeat.
Repeat a verse or a range
- Start any recitation in the reader or on a reciter’s page.
- Tap the repeat button in the player bar.
- Pick Ayah to loop one verse, or Range to loop a run of verses.
- Choose the surah, the From verse and the To verse (for Ayah there is just one verse), then set the options below.
- Press Start playing. A chip in the player names the verse or range that is repeating. Tap the chip to stop.
The window you pick belongs to that recitation. If you load another surah or another reciter, repeat turns off and the player tells you so. The range stays inside one surah.
Modes
| Mode | What repeats |
|---|---|
| Off | Nothing. Playback goes straight through. |
| Surah | The current surah, again and again. |
| All | Every surah, starting again from the first at the end. |
| Ayah | One verse you choose. |
| Range | A From to To run of verses. |
Ayah and Range need a recitation with verse timings. If you do not see them, pick another reciter from the list.
Count and delay
- Play count is how many times the verse or range plays in total: 1, 3, 5, 7 or 10, or without end (∞).
- Repeat each verse (Range only) is how many times each verse plays before the next one starts: 1, 2, 3, 5 or 7. This is the usual way to memorise a passage verse by verse.
- Delay between plays (seconds) is the pause after each play: 0, 1, 2, 3 or 5 seconds. Use it to say the verse back before the reciter continues.
Your repeat settings are remembered when you reload the page.
Choose a reciter
The reader offers 20 reciters, listed at /quran/reciters. Open one and press Play in Reader to hear a surah in that voice, then set your repeat. See Listening and reciters for the player controls.
Slow it down
In the ⋮ menu, Speed runs from 0.25× to 2×. Slow the recitation while a verse is new and raise it once it is steady. A Sleep timer (15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, or the end of the surah) stops playback when you have finished for the night.
Follow the text
In the text view, the verse being recited is highlighted and the text follows along. Words highlight as they are recited, and Auto Scroll keeps your place. Switch on Show tooltip while playing to see each word’s meaning as it is recited.
What it does not do
- There is no Repeat this page button. To repeat a page, find its first and last verse and use Range.
- Repeat plays the recitation audio. It does not mark or score your own recitation.
