Quran notes: sync, copy to Obsidian or Notion, no export
Where your verse notes live, what syncs, and how to copy a verse or note into Obsidian or Notion by hand. There is no bulk export today.
On this page
Quran Gallery keeps your verse notes in your account. This page says where they live, what syncs, what is private, and how to keep your own copy in a notes app such as Obsidian or Notion. It also says what is missing: there is no bulk export today.
Where your notes live
- A note belongs to one verse. You write it from the verse in the reader (the box says “Write a note about this verse…”), and you can edit or delete it there.
- A note can hold up to 10,000 characters.
- You need to be signed in. Notes are saved to your account, not to the browser, so signed out you can read but not save one. Sign in at accounts.qurangallery.com.
- Because they sit in your account, notes appear on every device where you sign in. There is nothing to switch on.
- All your notes are listed together on /quran/my-quran, under the Notes tab. Tap one to jump back to its verse.
See Bookmarks and notes for the full tour of that page.
Privacy
A note is private to your account. It is not shown on the verse page to other readers, and it is not part of a collection you share. Sharing a collection shares its verses only (see below).
What is not there
- No bulk export. There is no button that downloads all your notes as a file (no Markdown, JSON or CSV export).
- No Obsidian or Notion plugin or integration. Nothing connects Quran Gallery to those apps automatically.
- No sync with other Quran apps. Notes written in Quran Gallery stay in Quran Gallery.
If you need a copy outside the app, use the manual workflow below.
Copy a verse into Obsidian or Notion
- Open the verse in the reader and open its More menu (the three dots).
- Pick one of the copy actions:
- Copy verse copies the verse reference in brackets (for example
[2:255]), the Arabic text and each translation you have turned on, with the translation language named. - Copy Arabic text copies the reference and the Arabic only.
- Copy with translation copies the same as Copy verse.
- Copy verse copies the verse reference in brackets (for example
- Pick Copy share link to copy the address of the verse instead, for example
https://qurangallery.com/quran/al-baqarah/255. - Paste into your note in Obsidian or Notion, then paste the link under it. Your own words go below.
- Do the same for each note you want to keep: open it under Notes on /quran/my-quran, select the text, and copy it by hand.
A simple layout that keeps the way back to the source:
## 2:255
[2:255]
(paste the copied Arabic and translation)
Link: https://qurangallery.com/quran/al-baqarah/255
My note: (paste your note here)Keeping the link means you can always return to the verse in context, with its tafsirs. The verse addresses follow the pattern /quran/<surah>/<verse>.
Copying many notes this way is slow. We do not offer a faster route yet.
Share a collection
A collection groups verses around a theme. From /quran/my-quran, open the Collections tab and press Share on a collection. The app creates a private link and copies it to your clipboard.
- Anyone with the link can open it without signing in. They see the collection’s name, its description and its verses, not your notes.
- The link has no expiry date when you create it from the app. Treat it like a password to that list.
- The page shows the Arabic and one translation for up to the first 50 verses of a collection, and a bare reference for the rest.
- Links can be revoked on the server, after which they show “This link has been revoked.” The app has no button for this yet.
