Search and keyboard shortcuts
Search the text of every blog essay with Cmd/Ctrl+K or the / key, and browse by collection, topic, or season when you do not know the words.
On this page
Open search
Search is available on every page of the blog. There are three ways to open it:
- Press Cmd+K on a Mac, or Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux.
- Press / (slash) when no text box is focused.
- Select the Search blog… button in the bar below the site header.
Press the same Cmd/Ctrl+K again to close it.
What it searches
Search looks through the title, the excerpt, and the body text of the published essays. You can find a piece from a phrase you remember from inside it. Results show the title and excerpt so you can pick the right one.
Results in your language
Results come from the language you are reading in. If you are on the Arabic blog, you search the Arabic essays. Switch the language with the language switch to search in another one.
Browse instead
When you do not have a word to search for, browse:
- Collections — series of essays in reading order. Open the archive from the blog home page.
- Topics — every tag lists the essays that carry it.
- Seasons — shelves grouped by the Hijri season they suit.
- Categories — Articles or Reflections.
