وَلَقَدۡ
خَلَقۡنَا
ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ
مِن
صَلۡصَٰلٖ
مِّنۡ
حَمَإٖ
مَّسۡنُونٖ
٢٦
We created man out of dried clay formed from dark mud-

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
وَٱلۡجَآنَّ
خَلَقۡنَٰهُ
مِن
قَبۡلُ
مِن
نَّارِ
ٱلسَّمُومِ
٢٧
the jinn We created before, from the fire of scorching wind.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَإِذۡ
قَالَ
رَبُّكَ
لِلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ
إِنِّي
خَٰلِقُۢ
بَشَرٗا
مِّن
صَلۡصَٰلٖ
مِّنۡ
حَمَإٖ
مَّسۡنُونٖ
٢٨
Your Lord said to the angels, ‘I will create a mortal out of dried clay, formed from dark mud.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
فَإِذَا
سَوَّيۡتُهُۥ
وَنَفَخۡتُ
فِيهِ
مِن
رُّوحِي
فَقَعُواْ
لَهُۥ
سَٰجِدِينَ
٢٩
When I have fashioned him and breathed My spirit into him, bow down before him,’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
فَسَجَدَ
ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ
كُلُّهُمۡ
أَجۡمَعُونَ
٣٠
and the angels all did so.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
إِلَّآ
إِبۡلِيسَ
أَبَىٰٓ
أَن
يَكُونَ
مَعَ
ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ
٣١
But not Iblis: he refused to bow down like the others.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
قَالَ
يَٰٓإِبۡلِيسُ
مَا
لَكَ
أَلَّا
تَكُونَ
مَعَ
ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ
٣٢
God said, ‘Iblis, why did you not bow down like the others?’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
قَالَ
لَمۡ
أَكُن
لِّأَسۡجُدَ
لِبَشَرٍ
خَلَقۡتَهُۥ
مِن
صَلۡصَٰلٖ
مِّنۡ
حَمَإٖ
مَّسۡنُونٖ
٣٣
and he answered, ‘I will not bow to a mortal You created from dried clay, formed from dark mud.’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
قَالَ
فَٱخۡرُجۡ
مِنۡهَا
فَإِنَّكَ
رَجِيمٞ
٣٤
‘Get out of here!’ said God. ‘You are an outcast,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَإِنَّ
عَلَيۡكَ
ٱللَّعۡنَةَ
إِلَىٰ
يَوۡمِ
ٱلدِّينِ
٣٥
rejected until the Day of Judgement.’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
قَالَ
رَبِّ
فَأَنظِرۡنِيٓ
إِلَىٰ
يَوۡمِ
يُبۡعَثُونَ
٣٦
Iblis said, ‘My Lord, give me respite until the Day when they are raised from the dead.’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
قَالَ
فَإِنَّكَ
مِنَ
ٱلۡمُنظَرِينَ
٣٧
‘You have respite,’ said God,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
إِلَىٰ
يَوۡمِ
ٱلۡوَقۡتِ
ٱلۡمَعۡلُومِ
٣٨
‘until the Day of the Appointed Time.’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
قَالَ
رَبِّ
بِمَآ
أَغۡوَيۡتَنِي
لَأُزَيِّنَنَّ
لَهُمۡ
فِي
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
وَلَأُغۡوِيَنَّهُمۡ
أَجۡمَعِينَ
٣٩
Iblis then said to God, ‘Because You have put me in the wrong, I will lure mankind on earth and put them in the wrong,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
إِلَّا
عِبَادَكَ
مِنۡهُمُ
ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَ
٤٠
all except Your devoted servants.’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
قَالَ
هَٰذَا
صِرَٰطٌ
عَلَيَّ
مُسۡتَقِيمٌ
٤١
God said, ‘[Devotion] is a straight path to Me:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
إِنَّ
عِبَادِي
لَيۡسَ
لَكَ
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
سُلۡطَٰنٌ
إِلَّا
مَنِ
ٱتَّبَعَكَ
مِنَ
ٱلۡغَاوِينَ
٤٢
you will have no power over My servants, only over the ones who go astray and follow you.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَإِنَّ
جَهَنَّمَ
لَمَوۡعِدُهُمۡ
أَجۡمَعِينَ
٤٣
Hell is the promised place for all these,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
لَهَا
سَبۡعَةُ
أَبۡوَٰبٖ
لِّكُلِّ
بَابٖ
مِّنۡهُمۡ
جُزۡءٞ
مَّقۡسُومٌ
٤٤
with seven gates, each gate having its allotted share of them.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
