About Surah Al-Qari'ah

The title Al-Qāriʿah names an event so forceful it will strike and smash the human heart with terror. Delivered early in the Prophet’s mission to counter the polytheists’ mockery of the Resurrection, this Meccan revelation uses stark imagery to make an unfathomable day tangible. It entered the chronological order of revelation at number thirty, situated between Sūrat Quraysh and Sūrat al-Qiyāmah to establish the absolute certainty of a final reckoning.

Across eleven verses, the text opens by demanding attention for this striking calamity and the cosmic upheaval preceding the Hour. The movement then shifts to two vivid comparisons: humanity is reduced to a swarm of scattered moths, while the mountains are stripped down to flying tufts of carded wool.

From this portrait of universal collapse, the focus narrows to the exact scales of divine justice. Accountability rests entirely on the weight of a person's deeds. Those whose scales register heavy are guaranteed a life of eternal bliss, while those whose scales fall light are left to face a consuming Fire.
