The address opens by mandating the night vigil, an intense spiritual preparation for the "Heavy Word" of revelation about to descend. The focus then turns to the immediate resistance in Makkah, ordering the Prophet (ﷺ) to trust Allah, disregard mockery, and leave his oppressors' punishment to the Divine. To ground this warning, the verses recall the total destruction that befell Pharaoh when he denied his messenger.

Up to a decade of hardship, travel, and fighting separates those early commands from the twentieth verse revealed in Madinah. The strict obligation of praying through the night lifts to ease the believers' burden.
