About Surah Al-Mu'minun

"Successful indeed are the believers." This proclamation opens the 76th revelation, providing not just its primary title, Sūrat al-Mu’minūn, but its alternative names, Sūrat Qad aflaḥa (Successful Indeed) and Sūrat al-Falāḥ (The Success). Placed between al-Ṭūr and al-Mulk in the Makkan era, these 118 verses—by the Kūfan count—define the anatomy of true faith.

After detailing the virtues that secure this success, the text proves the Resurrection through the biological stages of human development and marvels like rain and livestock. It recounts the struggles of Nuh, Musa, and Isa, contrasting their call to monotheism with the slander of deniers. Confronting the present polytheists who mirror those destroyed nations, the verses console the Prophet and command him to overlook their ill-treatment.

The latter passages expose the bitter regret of those begging for a reprieve when death arrives. Because humanity was not created for a frivolous purpose, the disbelievers face judgment while the faithful are vindicated. The Prophet is instructed to seek mercy and forgiveness for these believers, realizing the exact success promised to them in the opening line.
