Text and typography — Design Studio

Studio has a deep text system for both Latin and Arabic — the right place for verse cards, calligraphy layouts, and titled posters. This page covers adding, styling, and shaping text.

Adding text

Open the Text panel from the left sidebar and:

Add a text box, then type into it, or
pick one of the built-in text style presets to drop in pre-styled text you can edit.

You can also press T to add a text box, or paste text copied from elsewhere to create a new text box automatically.

To edit existing text, double-click it on the canvas. Press Escape when you’re done.

When text is selected, the top bar shows a Font family picker. It opens a font browser with a search box, your recently used fonts, and the fonts already used in the current design. Category tabs let you narrow the list quickly:

All — every available typeface.
Sans — clean, modern sans-serif typefaces for general use.
Serif — classic serif typefaces for a more traditional feel.
Display — bold, eye-catching faces for big titles.
Script — flowing, handwriting-style typefaces.
Mono — fixed-width typefaces.
Arabic — typefaces designed for Arabic script, including styles suited to Qur’anic and calligraphic text.

Set the Font size with the size field next to it, and choose a Font weight from Thin, Light, Regular, Medium, Semibold, Bold, or Black.

Styling text

The text tools (in the top bar and the Typography section of the Properties panel) let you:

Control	What it does
Bold	Toggle bold (`Ctrl`+`B`).
Italic	Toggle italic (`Ctrl`+`I`).
Underline	Toggle underline (`Ctrl`+`U`).
Strikethrough	Draw a line through the text.
Overline	Draw a line above the text.
Superscript / Subscript	Raise or lower selected characters.
Text colour	Set the colour of the text.

You can also change the case of text — Uppercase, lowercase, Title Case — without retyping.

When you’re editing text directly on the canvas, a compact rich-text toolbar lets you apply bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, highlight, and super/subscript to just the part you’ve selected — so you can style a single word inside a line.

Alignment, direction, and spacing

Align — Left, Center, Right, or Justify.
Direction — set how text flows: Left to Right, Right to Left, or Auto Detect (Studio decides based on the characters). Use Right to Left for Arabic.
Auto Size — choose how the text box sizes itself: Fixed size (you control width and height), Auto width (the box grows with the text), or Auto height (width is fixed, height grows).
Spacing — adjust line height (space between lines) and letter spacing (space between characters) for the look you want.

For Qur’anic text, set the direction to Right to Left and pick an Arabic font. If you insert a verse from the Quran panel, this is handled for you — see Quran and Islamic content.

Text on a path (curved text)

You can bend a line of text along a curve:

Select a text element.
Open Text on Path (the Curve controls).
Pick a curve shape from the presets.
Adjust the offset to slide the text along the curve, and the side to put it above or below the line.

Remove the curve to return the text to a straight line. The Text panel also offers a quick curved text starter if you want to begin with a curve.

Text effects and stroke

Text supports the same rich effects as other elements — drop shadows, glows, outlines, and more — so you can make a title pop or give calligraphy depth. You can also add a stroke (an outline around the letters) with its own colour and width.

Convert text to outlines

When you want a piece of text to behave like a shape — for precise reshaping or to lock its exact look — use Convert text to vector outlines. The letters become editable shapes. Keep an editable copy if you might still need to change the wording, since outlined text can no longer be retyped.
