The prayer app can send you a notification for each prayer, so you don’t have to keep checking the times. You set it all up in Prayer Settings → Notifications.
Turning notifications on
Open Prayer Settings, find the Notifications section, and switch on Enable prayer time notifications. Your browser then asks for permission to send notifications — allow it, and you’re set.
Two things must be in place before the switch will work:
- Sign in. Notifications are tied to your account. Signed out, you’ll see “Sign in to enable prayer notifications.”
- Set your location. The app needs to know where you are to compute your times. Without one you’ll see “Set your location above to receive prayer time notifications,” and the switch stays disabled.
If you previously blocked notifications, the browser won’t ask again — you’ll see “Notification permission was denied. Please enable in browser settings,” so re-enable them for this site in your browser and try once more.
On iPhone and iPad
Safari only allows notifications for apps added to your Home Screen. If you’re on an iPhone or iPad and haven’t done that yet, you’ll see “On iPhone, add this app to your Home Screen first to enable notifications.”
Open the prayer app in Safari, tap Share, choose Add to Home Screen, then open it from the new icon and turn notifications on from there.
If your browser can’t send notifications at all, the section shows “Push notifications aren’t supported in this browser” — try a different browser or device.
Choosing which prayers alert you
Once notifications are on, a Notify me for grid lets you toggle each prayer independently:
| Prayer | Notified by default |
|---|---|
| Fajr | Yes |
| Sunrise | No |
| Dhuhr | Yes |
| Asr | Yes |
| Maghrib | Yes |
| Isha | Yes |
Turn off any you don’t want, or switch on Sunrise if you’d like that reminder too. Changes save as you make them.
Reminder timing
The Reminder timing dropdown sets how far ahead of each prayer you’re notified:
| Option | When you’re notified |
|---|---|
| At prayer time | Right as the prayer begins |
| 5 min before | Five minutes ahead |
| 10 min before | Ten minutes ahead |
| 15 min before | Fifteen minutes ahead |
| 30 min before | Half an hour ahead |
A few minutes ahead gives you time to make wudu and reach the prayer space before the prayer begins.
Sending a test
Use Send test notification to confirm everything works. A test should arrive on this device within a moment, and the button briefly reads “Test notification sent.” If it shows an error instead, check that notifications are still allowed for this site and that you’re online.
