The player

Everything you listen to — recitations, Tafsir, radio, and TV — plays through one player bar docked at the bottom of the screen. It appears as soon as you start something and follows you across the whole Quran Gallery suite — leave Listen for the blog, the reader, or any other page and your audio keeps playing, with the same bar ready wherever you land.

The player has three parts, and each one has a clear job:

Every control on the bar is the quick version of a row in the full player, so what you learn in one place works in the other.

The bar

The bar shows the artwork, the title of what is playing and a second line with your position and the reciter (Ayah 2 of 7 · Abdulbasit Abdulsamad for verse-timed recitations, otherwise the reciter and riwāyah, or Live broadcast for radio and TV). When you pause, the play button and the stilled sound bars show the player is waiting — tap play to pick up where you left off, even after closing the tab.

A thin progress bar sits along the bar’s top edge. Drag it to scrub to any point; with a verse-timed recitation each āyah is marked on it, and a tooltip names the verse under your finger or pointer. With the bar focused, the arrow keys nudge five seconds either way.

On the bar itself:

• Previous / Next surah — move through what this reciter has actually recorded, skipping surahs they never recorded. On phones, only Next is on the bar; Previous is in the full player.
• Play / Pause — the large round button.
• Volume — open the slider to set the level, or mute and unmute. On phones, use your device’s volume keys or the full player.

While a sleep timer is counting down, a Sleep chip with the remaining time replaces the second line — tap it to cancel.

The full player

Tap anywhere on the bar (or swipe up) to open the full player. Swipe down, press Escape, or tap the ✕ to close it.

From the top: the artwork and title, a large scrubber with the elapsed and total time (and the current āyah for verse-timed recitations), the play button with previous / next surah either side, and then a list of settings. Tap a row to open it in place; the row always shows its current value on the right.

Row	What it does
Repeat	Off · Surah · All · Ayah · Range — see below.
Speed	Pick a rate from 0.25× to 2× (Normal is 1×). Your choice stays until you change it.
Sleep timer	15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour — or End of surah to stop at the chapter boundary. Cancel calls it off.
Recitation	Switch the reciter, riwāyah, or surah without stopping — see below.
Read along	Show the verses of what is playing, Arabic with translation. With a verse-timed recitation the current āyah is highlighted and tapping one jumps to it.
Up next	See what plays after this. Tap an entry to jump to it, or remove it.
Volume	The slider and mute button.

At the bottom sit Download (recitations only), Share, Open page, Minimize, and Close player.

Repeat

Open the full player’s Repeat row and pick a mode:

• Off — play through.
• Surah — loop the current surah. (The same as the bar’s repeat button.)
• All — when the reciter’s last surah ends, start again from their first.
• Ayah — loop one āyah you choose.
• Range — loop from one āyah to another.

Ayah and Range need a verse-timed recitation, so they appear only for those reciters. Both open the memorization controls:

• Play count — how many times the chosen āyah or range plays in total (past eight it becomes ∞).
• Repeat each verse (Range only) — how many times each āyah plays before moving to the next.
• Delay between plays — a pause in seconds after each play, so you have a moment to repeat after the reciter.

Press Start playing to begin from the first āyah of the window. While a repeat other than Surah is running, a chip on the bar names what is looping; tap it, or the bar’s repeat button, to stop. Your repeat settings survive a reload.

Queue

Use Play next and Add to queue on any track’s menu to line up listening without stopping what is playing. The Up next row in the full player shows the queue — jump to an entry or remove it — and the player rolls into the next queued track automatically.

Download

Choose Download at the bottom of the full player to save a recitation as an audio file you can play offline. Download is available for Quran recitations only — not for Tafsir, radio, or TV. A single-surah page also has its own Download button.

Share and Open page

Share sends a link to the exact recitation, station, or Tafsir that is playing (or copies it, where the device has no share sheet). Open page takes you to its page in Listen.

Switching recitation without stopping

For recitations, open the full player’s Recitation row to bring up a picker with three columns: Riwāyah, Reciter, and Surah.

1. Pick a riwāyah to narrow the reciters to those who recite it.
2. Pick a reciter — the number beside each shows how many surahs they have recorded.
3. Pick a surah to switch to it and start playing.

If you switch to a different recording of the same surah, the player tries to keep your position; when the new recording is a noticeably different length it starts from the beginning instead.

Minimizing and closing

Minimize (at the bottom of the full player) shrinks the bar to a small tab at the edge of the screen so it stays out of the way while you read; tap the tab to bring it back. Close player stops playback and dismisses the bar.

Controls for radio and TV

Live radio and TV are continuous streams, so the player keeps things simple — there is no scrubbing, surah skipping, repeat, speed, or download. You get play / pause, volume, and a sleep timer. The Live label and pulsing dot in the full player show that the stream is broadcasting in real time.
