The compact calculator
How the small, embeddable version of the inheritance calculator works — where you'll meet it, and how a pre-filled family can be shared by link.

Alongside the full page, Mīrāth has a compact version of the inheritance calculator. It is the same engine and the same exact fractions, packed into a small, results-first panel designed to sit inside another page. This article explains where you’ll meet it and how it behaves.
Where you’ll see it
The compact calculator is what appears inside the Quran Gallery chat assistant. When you describe a family to the assistant — “a wife, two sons, and a daughter” — it can show you the shares right there in the conversation, using this small panel rather than sending you away to the full page.
It is deliberately minimal:
- The result comes first — if the family is already known, the shares are shown immediately.
- The form to change the family sits behind an Adjust the family & estate toggle, so the answer isn’t buried under inputs.
- An Open the full calculator link carries whatever family is on screen over to the full page, where you get the donut chart, the worked calculation, and the complete reasoning.
Switching between amounts and fractions
Just like the full page, the compact panel can show each share as a money Amount or as a Fraction and percentage. When no estate value has been provided, it sensibly opens in fractions so it never implies a money figure you didn’t give.
Sharing a pre-filled family
The compact calculator (and the full one) can open with a family already filled in. This is how the assistant hands a family to the full calculator: the link it produces carries the deceased’s details, the estate, the chosen school, and each relative, so the recipient sees the finished result the moment the page loads — no re-typing.
In practice this means you can capture a particular case and share it: open the full calculator with the family you want, and the link in your browser’s address bar already describes that exact family. Anyone you send it to opens straight to the same shares.
If a share looks surprising, open the full calculator from the compact panel. The full page shows the worked calculation (ḥisāb) and the reasoning (daleel) behind every figure, which the compact view keeps tucked away to save space.
The same caution applies
Whether you use the full page or the compact panel, the result is an educational estimate.
Inheritance is exact and the responsibility is serious. The calculator follows the classical Sunni rules and shows its evidence, but always confirm a real, binding distribution with a qualified scholar.
