۞ قَالَ
قَرِينُهُۥ
رَبَّنَا
مَآ
أَطۡغَيۡتُهُۥ
وَلَٰكِن
كَانَ
فِي
ضَلَٰلِۭ

and his [evil] companion will say, ‘Lord, I did not make him transgress; he had already gone far astray himself.’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

قَالَ
لَا
تَخۡتَصِمُواْ
لَدَيَّ
وَقَدۡ
قَدَّمۡتُ
إِلَيۡكُم
بِٱلۡوَعِيدِ
٢٨
God will say, ‘Do not argue in My presence. I sent you a warning

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

مَا
يُبَدَّلُ
ٱلۡقَوۡلُ
لَدَيَّ
وَمَآ
أَنَا۠
بِظَلَّٰمٖ
لِّلۡعَبِيدِ
٢٩
and My word cannot be changed: I am not unjust to any creature.’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

يَوۡمَ
نَقُولُ
لِجَهَنَّمَ
هَلِ
ٱمۡتَلَأۡتِ
وَتَقُولُ
هَلۡ
مِن
مَّزِيدٖ
٣٠
We shall say to Hell on that day, ‘Are you full?’ and it will reply, ‘Are there no more?’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَأُزۡلِفَتِ
ٱلۡجَنَّةُ
لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ
غَيۡرَ
بَعِيدٍ
٣١
But Paradise will be brought close to the righteous and will no longer be distant:

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

هَٰذَا
مَا
تُوعَدُونَ
لِكُلِّ
أَوَّابٍ
حَفِيظٖ
٣٢
‘This is what you were promised––this is for everyone who turned often to God and kept Him in mind,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

مَّنۡ
خَشِيَ
ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنَ
بِٱلۡغَيۡبِ
وَجَآءَ
بِقَلۡبٖ
مُّنِيبٍ
٣٣
who held the Most Gracious in awe, though He is unseen, who comes before Him with a heart turned to Him in devotion-

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

ٱدۡخُلُوهَا
بِسَلَٰمٖۖ
ذَٰلِكَ
يَوۡمُ
ٱلۡخُلُودِ
٣٤
so enter it in peace. This is the Day of everlasting Life.’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

لَهُم
مَّا
يَشَآءُونَ
فِيهَا
وَلَدَيۡنَا
مَزِيدٞ
٣٥
They will have all that they wish for there, and We have more for them.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَكَمۡ
أَهۡلَكۡنَا
قَبۡلَهُم
مِّن
قَرۡنٍ
هُمۡ
أَشَدُّ
مِنۡهُم
بَطۡشٗا
فَنَقَّبُواْ
فِي
ٱلۡبِلَٰدِ
هَلۡ
مِن
مَّحِيصٍ
٣٦
We have destroyed even mightier generations before these disbelievers, who travelled through [many] lands- was there any escape?

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

إِنَّ
فِي
ذَٰلِكَ
لَذِكۡرَىٰ
لِمَن
كَانَ
لَهُۥ
قَلۡبٌ
أَوۡ
أَلۡقَى
ٱلسَّمۡعَ
وَهُوَ
شَهِيدٞ
٣٧
There truly is a reminder in this for whoever has a heart, whoever listens attentively.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَلَقَدۡ
خَلَقۡنَا
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ
وَمَا
بَيۡنَهُمَا
فِي
سِتَّةِ
أَيَّامٖ
وَمَا
مَسَّنَا
مِن
لُّغُوبٖ
٣٨
We created the heavens, the earth, and everything between, in six Days without tiring.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَٱصۡبِرۡ
عَلَىٰ
مَا
يَقُولُونَ
وَسَبِّحۡ
بِحَمۡدِ
رَبِّكَ
قَبۡلَ
طُلُوعِ
ٱلشَّمۡسِ
وَقَبۡلَ
ٱلۡغُرُوبِ
٣٩
So [Prophet], bear everything they say with patience; celebrate the praise of your Lord before the rising and setting of the sun;

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَمِنَ
ٱلَّيۡلِ
فَسَبِّحۡهُ
وَأَدۡبَٰرَ
ٱلسُّجُودِ
٤٠
proclaim His praise in the night and at the end of every prayer;

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَٱسۡتَمِعۡ
يَوۡمَ
يُنَادِ
ٱلۡمُنَادِ
مِن
مَّكَانٖ
قَرِيبٖ
٤١
listen out for the Day when the caller will call from a nearby place.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

يَوۡمَ
يَسۡمَعُونَ
ٱلصَّيۡحَةَ
بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ
ذَٰلِكَ
يَوۡمُ
ٱلۡخُرُوجِ
٤٢
They will come out [from their graves] on that Day, the Day when they hear the mighty blast in reality.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

إِنَّا
نَحۡنُ
نُحۡيِۦ
وَنُمِيتُ
وَإِلَيۡنَا
ٱلۡمَصِيرُ
٤٣
It is We who give life and death; the final return will be to Us

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

يَوۡمَ
تَشَقَّقُ
ٱلۡأَرۡضُ
عَنۡهُمۡ
سِرَاعٗاۚ
ذَٰلِكَ
حَشۡرٌ
عَلَيۡنَا
يَسِيرٞ
٤٤
on the Day when the earth will be torn apart, letting them rush out- that gathering will be easy for Us.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

نَّحۡنُ
أَعۡلَمُ
بِمَا
يَقُولُونَۖ
وَمَآ
أَنتَ
عَلَيۡهِم
بِجَبَّارٖۖ
فَذَكِّرۡ
بِٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ
مَن
يَخَافُ
وَعِيدِ
٤٥
We know best what the disbelievers say. You [Prophet] are not there to force them, so remind, with this Quran, those who fear My warning.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَٱلذَّٰرِيَٰتِ
ذَرۡوٗا
١
By those [winds] that scatter far and wide,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَٱلۡحَٰمِلَٰتِ
وِقۡرٗا
٢
and those that are heavily laden,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَٱلۡجَٰرِيَٰتِ
يُسۡرٗا
٣
that speed freely,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَٱلۡمُقَسِّمَٰتِ
أَمۡرًا
٤
that distribute [rain] as ordained!

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

إِنَّمَا
تُوعَدُونَ
لَصَادِقٞ
٥
What you [people] are promised is true:

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَإِنَّ
ٱلدِّينَ
لَوَٰقِعٞ
٦
the Judgement will come––

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَٱلسَّمَآءِ
ذَاتِ
ٱلۡحُبُكِ
٧
by the sky with its pathways,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

إِنَّكُمۡ
لَفِي
قَوۡلٖ
مُّخۡتَلِفٖ
٨
you differ in what you say––

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

يُؤۡفَكُ
عَنۡهُ
مَنۡ
أُفِكَ
٩
those who turn away from it are [truly] deceived.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

قُتِلَ
ٱلۡخَرَّٰصُونَ
١٠
Perish the liars,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

ٱلَّذِينَ
هُمۡ
فِي
غَمۡرَةٖ
سَاهُونَ
١١
those steeped in error and unaware!

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

يَسۡـَٔلُونَ
أَيَّانَ
يَوۡمُ
ٱلدِّينِ
١٢
They ask, ‘When is this Judgement Day coming?’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

يَوۡمَ
هُمۡ
عَلَى
ٱلنَّارِ
يُفۡتَنُونَ
١٣
On a Day when they will be punished by the Fire,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

ذُوقُواْ
فِتۡنَتَكُمۡ
هَٰذَا
ٱلَّذِي
كُنتُم
بِهِۦ
تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ
١٤
‘Taste the punishment! This is what you wished to hasten.’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

إِنَّ
ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ
فِي
جَنَّٰتٖ
وَعُيُونٍ
١٥
The righteous will be in Gardens with [flowing] springs.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

ءَاخِذِينَ
مَآ
ءَاتَىٰهُمۡ
رَبُّهُمۡۚ
إِنَّهُمۡ
كَانُواْ
قَبۡلَ
ذَٰلِكَ
مُحۡسِنِينَ
١٦
They will receive their Lord’s gifts because of the good they did before:

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

كَانُواْ
قَلِيلٗا
مِّنَ
ٱلَّيۡلِ
مَا
يَهۡجَعُونَ
١٧
sleeping only little at night,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَبِٱلۡأَسۡحَارِ
هُمۡ
يَسۡتَغۡفِرُونَ
١٨
praying at dawn for God’s forgiveness,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَفِيٓ
أَمۡوَٰلِهِمۡ
حَقّٞ
لِّلسَّآئِلِ
وَٱلۡمَحۡرُومِ
١٩
giving a rightful share of their wealth to the beggar and the deprived.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَفِي
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
ءَايَٰتٞ
لِّلۡمُوقِنِينَ
٢٠
On earth there are signs for those with sure faith––

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَفِيٓ
أَنفُسِكُمۡۚ
أَفَلَا
تُبۡصِرُونَ
٢١
and in yourselves too, do you not see?––

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَفِي
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
رِزۡقُكُمۡ
وَمَا
تُوعَدُونَ
٢٢
in the sky is your sustenance and all that you are promised.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَوَرَبِّ
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ
إِنَّهُۥ
لَحَقّٞ
مِّثۡلَ
مَآ
أَنَّكُمۡ
تَنطِقُونَ
٢٣
By the Lord of the heavens and earth! All this is as real as your speaking.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

هَلۡ
أَتَىٰكَ
حَدِيثُ
ضَيۡفِ
إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ
ٱلۡمُكۡرَمِينَ
٢٤
[Muhammad], have you heard the story of the honoured guests of Abraham?

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

إِذۡ
دَخَلُواْ
عَلَيۡهِ
فَقَالُواْ
سَلَٰمٗاۖ
قَالَ
سَلَٰمٞ
قَوۡمٞ
مُّنكَرُونَ
٢٥
They went in to see him and said, ‘Peace.’ ‘Peace,’ he said, [adding to himself] ‘These people are strangers.’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَرَاغَ
إِلَىٰٓ
أَهۡلِهِۦ
فَجَآءَ
بِعِجۡلٖ
سَمِينٖ
٢٦
He turned quickly to his household, brought out a fat calf,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَقَرَّبَهُۥٓ
إِلَيۡهِمۡ
قَالَ
أَلَا
تَأۡكُلُونَ
٢٧
and placed it before them. ‘Will you not eat?’ he said,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَأَوۡجَسَ
مِنۡهُمۡ
خِيفَةٗۖ
قَالُواْ
لَا
تَخَفۡۖ
وَبَشَّرُوهُ
بِغُلَٰمٍ
عَلِيمٖ
٢٨
beginning to be afraid of them, but they said, ‘Do not be afraid.’ They gave him good news of a son who would be gifted with knowledge.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَأَقۡبَلَتِ
ٱمۡرَأَتُهُۥ
فِي
صَرَّةٖ
فَصَكَّتۡ
وَجۡهَهَا
وَقَالَتۡ
عَجُوزٌ
عَقِيمٞ
٢٩
His wife then entered with a loud cry, struck her face, and said, ‘A barren old woman?’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

قَالُواْ
كَذَٰلِكِ
قَالَ
رَبُّكِۖ
إِنَّهُۥ
هُوَ
ٱلۡحَكِيمُ
ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
٣٠
but they said, ‘It will be so. This is what your Lord said, and He is the Wise, the All Knowing.’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
