Creating and Opening Boards

The Rafiq home page at qurangallery.com/rafiq shows all your boards and gives you two ways to start drawing.

Your boards list

When you are signed in, the home page shows your boards in order of most recently edited. Each board card displays its name and how long ago it was last changed — for example “3m ago” or “2d ago”. Click any card to open that board.

When you are not signed in, no cloud boards are listed. A notice explains that boards are saved on this device only.

Starting a new board

New board (synced)

Press New board in the top-right corner. This creates a board in your account, names it “Untitled board” by default, and opens it immediately. It starts saving right away — any changes you make are sent to your account and will be there the next time you open Rafiq on any device.

Requires a signed-in account. If you are not signed in, the New board button is not shown.

Quick sketch (device only)

Press Quick sketch to open a blank canvas immediately, with no account required. The board stays only on this device and in this browser — it is not backed up to your account, and it will not appear on other devices.

When to use Quick sketch: brainstorming sessions you do not need to keep, jotting something down quickly, or drawing on a shared device where you do not want to sign in.

If you are not signed in, the primary button reads Start a board instead of Quick sketch — it behaves the same way: a local, device-only canvas.

Opening an existing board

Click any board card on the home page to open it. Synced boards resume exactly where you left off. The canvas reloads any elements that were saved to your account, so nothing is missing even if you closed the tab mid-session.

Renaming a board

Once a board is open, click the board name in the top-right bar to rename it. Type the new name and press Enter (or click away) to save. The new name appears on the home page immediately.

How syncing works

Situation	What happens
You edit a synced board	Changes save automatically in the background — you see “Saving…” then “Saved” in the top bar.
Two people edit the same synced board	Changes from both appear live; you see the other person’s cursor moving.
You lose your internet connection	Your work stays on screen. Saves that can’t reach the server show Save failed — Retry in the top bar, so you can resend them once you’re back online.
You close the tab while saving	The save completes silently on your next visit.
A save fails	The top bar shows “Save failed — Retry”. Click to try again.

Claiming a guest sketch after signing in

If you drew something as a guest (device-only) and then sign in, you can bring that board into your account. When you reopen a guest board while signed in, Rafiq claims it into your account and it syncs from then on. Keep the link to any guest board you want to carry over.

Claiming happens per board, at the moment you reopen it while signed in — there’s no automatic sweep of your past guest boards when you sign in. Any new board you start while already signed in syncs from the start.
