In the meeting

Once you enter a session, your camera and microphone publish automatically based on what you chose on the setup screen. The toolbar runs along the bottom of the screen.

Toolbar controls

Button	What it does
Microphone	Mute or unmute yourself. The button shows a faint red tint when you are muted. Other participants see a muted-mic icon on your tile.
Camera	Turn your video on or off. The button shows a faint red tint when your camera is off. When off, other participants see your initials instead of a video feed.
Screen share	Share your screen, window, or browser tab with everyone in the room. The button highlights when sharing is active. Click it again to stop. You can choose to share your screen’s audio where your browser supports it.
Chat	Open the in-meeting chat panel. A red badge shows how many messages arrived while the panel was closed.
Devices	Open the device picker to change your microphone, camera, or speaker mid-call.
Copy invite link	Copy the room’s invite link to your clipboard. The button briefly shows a checkmark when the copy succeeds.
Leave	End your participation and return to the lobby. Other participants stay in the call.

Participant grid

On large screens, tiles arrange themselves based on how many people are in the room:

Participants	Layout (large screen)
1 (just you)	Your tile is centred with a “You’re the only one here” notice and a reminder to share the invite link.
2 – 4	Two-column grid.
5 – 9	Three-column grid.
10 or more	Four-column grid.

On small screens, tiles always stack in a single column regardless of participant count.

The room code and total participant count appear at the top of the screen.

Active speaker highlight

The tile of whoever is speaking gets a coloured ring around it so you can easily follow the conversation.

Muted-mic indicator

A small crossed-out microphone icon appears on any participant’s tile when their microphone is off.

Screen share layout

When anyone in the room shares their screen, the layout switches automatically:

• The shared screen takes up most of the space.
• A label in the corner shows whose screen is being shared.
• The participant tiles move to a strip on the side (on a large screen) or a scrollable row at the bottom (on a small screen).

To stop sharing your own screen, click the Screen share button again.

In-meeting chat

Click the Chat button (speech-bubble icon) to open the chat panel on the right side of the screen. Type a message and press Enter or click the send button.

• Your own messages appear on the right side of the panel; others’ messages appear on the left.
• Each message shows the sender’s name and the time it was sent.
• When the panel is closed, a red badge on the Chat button counts new messages.

Chat messages are visible only to participants currently in the room. They are not saved after everyone leaves.

Changing devices mid-call

Click the Devices button (gear icon) to open a small picker:

• Microphone — switch to a different audio input.
• Camera — switch to a different video source.
• Speaker — switch to a different audio output (available on supported browsers).

Changes take effect immediately. Click anywhere outside the picker to close it.

Connection status

A banner appears at the top of the meeting area when something changes with your connection:

Banner	Meaning
Connecting…	You are in the process of joining the session.
Reconnecting…	Your connection dropped briefly and is being restored automatically.
Error message (red)	Something went wrong joining or staying in the session. The banner shows a description of the problem.
(disconnected overlay)	You have been disconnected. Click Back to lobby to return to the home screen and rejoin if you want.

If you see a reconnecting banner, wait a moment — the session recovers automatically in most cases without you needing to do anything.
