Ayet
51

[Prophet], tell My servants that I am the Forgiving, the Merciful,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَأَنَّ
عَذَابِي
هُوَ
ٱلۡعَذَابُ
ٱلۡأَلِيمُ
٥٠
but My torment is the truly painful one.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَنَبِّئۡهُمۡ
عَن
ضَيۡفِ
إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ
٥١
Tell them too about Abraham’s guests:

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

إِذۡ
دَخَلُواْ
عَلَيۡهِ
فَقَالُواْ
سَلَٰمٗا
قَالَ
إِنَّا
مِنكُمۡ
وَجِلُونَ
٥٢
when they came to him and said, ‘Peace,’ he said, ‘We are afraid of you.’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

قَالُواْ
لَا
تَوۡجَلۡ
إِنَّا
نُبَشِّرُكَ
بِغُلَٰمٍ
عَلِيمٖ
٥٣
‘Do not be afraid,’ they said, ‘We bring you good news of a son who will have great knowledge.’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

قَالَ
أَبَشَّرۡتُمُونِي
عَلَىٰٓ
أَن
مَّسَّنِيَ
ٱلۡكِبَرُ
فَبِمَ
تُبَشِّرُونَ
٥٤
He said, ‘How can you give me such news when old age has come to me? What sort of news is this?’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

قَالُواْ
بَشَّرۡنَٰكَ
بِٱلۡحَقِّ
فَلَا
تَكُن
مِّنَ
ٱلۡقَٰنِطِينَ
٥٥
They said, ‘We have told you the truth, so do not despair.’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

قَالَ
وَمَن
يَقۡنَطُ
مِن
رَّحۡمَةِ
رَبِّهِۦٓ
إِلَّا
ٱلضَّآلُّونَ
٥٦
He said, ‘Who but the misguided despair of the mercy of their Lord?’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

قَالَ
فَمَا
خَطۡبُكُمۡ
أَيُّهَا
ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ
٥٧
and then asked, ‘Messengers, what is your errand?’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

قَالُوٓاْ
إِنَّآ
أُرۡسِلۡنَآ
إِلَىٰ
قَوۡمٖ
مُّجۡرِمِينَ
٥٨
They replied, ‘We have been sent to a people who are guilty.’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

إِلَّآ
ءَالَ
لُوطٍ
إِنَّا
لَمُنَجُّوهُمۡ
أَجۡمَعِينَ
٥٩
But We shall save the household of Lot,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

إِلَّا
ٱمۡرَأَتَهُۥ
قَدَّرۡنَآ
إِنَّهَا
لَمِنَ
ٱلۡغَٰبِرِينَ
٦٠
all except his wife: We have decreed that she will be one of those who stay behind.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَلَمَّا
جَآءَ
ءَالَ
لُوطٍ
ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ
٦١
When the messengers came to the household of Lot,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

قَالَ
إِنَّكُمۡ
قَوۡمٞ
مُّنكَرُونَ
٦٢
he said, ‘You are strangers.’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

قَالُواْ
بَلۡ
جِئۡنَٰكَ
بِمَا
كَانُواْ
فِيهِ
يَمۡتَرُونَ
٦٣
They said, ‘We have brought you what they said would never happen:

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَأَتَيۡنَٰكَ
بِٱلۡحَقِّ
وَإِنَّا
لَصَٰدِقُونَ
٦٤
we have brought you the Truth. We speak truly,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَأَسۡرِ
بِأَهۡلِكَ
بِقِطۡعٖ
مِّنَ
ٱلَّيۡلِ
وَٱتَّبِعۡ
أَدۡبَٰرَهُمۡ
وَلَا
يَلۡتَفِتۡ
مِنكُمۡ
أَحَدٞ
وَٱمۡضُواْ
حَيۡثُ
تُؤۡمَرُونَ
٦٥
so leave in the dead of the night with your household, and walk behind them. Let none of you look back. Go where you are commanded.’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَقَضَيۡنَآ
إِلَيۡهِ
ذَٰلِكَ
ٱلۡأَمۡرَ
أَنَّ
دَابِرَ
هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
مَقۡطُوعٞ
مُّصۡبِحِينَ
٦٦
We made this decree known to him: the last remnants of those people would be wiped out in the morning.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَجَآءَ
أَهۡلُ
ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ
يَسۡتَبۡشِرُونَ
٦٧
The people of the town came along, revelling,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

قَالَ
إِنَّ
هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
ضَيۡفِي
فَلَا
تَفۡضَحُونِ
٦٨
and he told them, ‘These are my guests, do not disgrace me.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
