Surah Al-Inshiqaq (The Sundering) — 25 verses
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
وَأَذِنَتۡ
لِرَبِّهَا
وَحُقَّتۡ
٢
obeying its Lord as it rightly must,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَإِذَا
ٱلۡأَرۡضُ
مُدَّتۡ
٣
when the earth is levelled out,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَأَلۡقَتۡ
مَا
فِيهَا
وَتَخَلَّتۡ
٤
casts out its contents, and becomes empty,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَأَذِنَتۡ
لِرَبِّهَا
وَحُقَّتۡ
٥
obeying its Lord as it rightly must,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ
إِنَّكَ
كَادِحٌ
إِلَىٰ
رَبِّكَ
كَدۡحٗا
فَمُلَٰقِيهِ
٦
you humans, toiling laboriously towards your Lord, will meet Him:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
فَأَمَّا
مَنۡ
أُوتِيَ
كِتَٰبَهُۥ
بِيَمِينِهِۦ
٧
whoever is given his record in his right hand
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
فَسَوۡفَ
يُحَاسَبُ
حِسَابٗا
يَسِيرٗا
٨
will have an easy reckoning
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَيَنقَلِبُ
إِلَىٰٓ
أَهۡلِهِۦ
مَسۡرُورٗا
٩
and return to his people well pleased,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَأَمَّا
مَنۡ
أُوتِيَ
كِتَٰبَهُۥ
وَرَآءَ
ظَهۡرِهِۦ
١٠
but whoever is given his record from behind his back
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
فَسَوۡفَ
يَدۡعُواْ
ثُبُورٗا
١١
will cry out for destruction––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَيَصۡلَىٰ
سَعِيرًا
١٢
he will burn in the blazing Fire.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
إِنَّهُۥ
كَانَ
فِيٓ
أَهۡلِهِۦ
مَسۡرُورًا
١٣
He used to live among his people well pleased.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
إِنَّهُۥ
ظَنَّ
أَن
لَّن
يَحُورَ
١٤
He thought he would never return [to his Lord]––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
بَلَىٰٓۚ
إِنَّ
رَبَّهُۥ
كَانَ
بِهِۦ
بَصِيرٗا
١٥
indeed he will! His Lord was watching him.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
فَلَآ
أُقۡسِمُ
بِٱلشَّفَقِ
١٦
I swear by the glow of sunset,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَٱلَّيۡلِ
وَمَا
وَسَقَ
١٧
by the night and what it covers,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَٱلۡقَمَرِ
إِذَا
ٱتَّسَقَ
١٨
by the full moon,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
لَتَرۡكَبُنَّ
طَبَقًا
عَن
طَبَقٖ
١٩
you will progress from stage to stage.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
فَمَا
لَهُمۡ
لَا
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
٢٠
So why do they not believe?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَإِذَا
قُرِئَ
عَلَيۡهِمُ
ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ
لَا
يَسۡجُدُونَۤ ۩
٢١
Why, when the Quran is read to them, do they not prostrate themselves [to God]?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
بَلِ
ٱلَّذِينَ
كَفَرُواْ
يُكَذِّبُونَ
٢٢
No! The disbelievers reject the Quran––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَٱللَّهُ
أَعۡلَمُ
بِمَا
يُوعُونَ
٢٣
God knows best what they keep hidden inside––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
فَبَشِّرۡهُم
بِعَذَابٍ
أَلِيمٍ
٢٤
so give them news of a painful torment.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
إِلَّا
ٱلَّذِينَ
ءَامَنُواْ
وَعَمِلُواْ
ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ
لَهُمۡ
أَجۡرٌ
غَيۡرُ
مَمۡنُونِۭ
٢٥
But those who believe and do good deeds will have a never-ending reward.
