Ta-Ha Meccan
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
مَآ
أَنزَلۡنَا
عَلَيۡكَ
ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ
لِتَشۡقَىٰٓ
٢
It was not to distress you [Prophet] that We sent down the Quran to you,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
إِلَّا
تَذۡكِرَةٗ
لِّمَن
يَخۡشَىٰ
٣
but as a reminder for those who hold God in awe,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
تَنزِيلٗا
مِّمَّنۡ
خَلَقَ
ٱلۡأَرۡضَ
وَٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
ٱلۡعُلَى
٤
a revelation from the One who created the earth and the high heaven,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ
عَلَى
ٱلۡعَرۡشِ
ٱسۡتَوَىٰ
٥
the Lord of Mercy, established on the throne.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
لَهُۥ
مَا
فِي
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
وَمَا
فِي
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
وَمَا
بَيۡنَهُمَا
وَمَا
تَحۡتَ
ٱلثَّرَىٰ
٦
Everything in the heavens and on earth, everything between them, everything beneath the soil, belongs to Him.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَإِن
تَجۡهَرۡ
بِٱلۡقَوۡلِ
فَإِنَّهُۥ
يَعۡلَمُ
ٱلسِّرَّ
وَأَخۡفَى
٧
Whatever you may say aloud, He knows what you keep secret and what is even more hidden.

ٱللَّهُ
لَآ
إِلَٰهَ
إِلَّا
هُوَۖ
لَهُ
ٱلۡأَسۡمَآءُ
ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ
٨
God––there is no god but Him––the most excellent names belong to Him.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَهَلۡ
أَتَىٰكَ
حَدِيثُ
مُوسَىٰٓ
٩
Has the story of Moses come to you [Prophet]?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
إِذۡ
رَءَا
نَارٗا
فَقَالَ
لِأَهۡلِهِ
ٱمۡكُثُوٓاْ
إِنِّيٓ
ءَانَسۡتُ
نَارٗا
لَّعَلِّيٓ
ءَاتِيكُم
مِّنۡهَا
بِقَبَسٍ
أَوۡ
أَجِدُ
عَلَى
ٱلنَّارِ
هُدٗى
١٠
He saw a fire and said to his people, ‘Stay here––I can see a fire. Maybe I can bring you a flaming brand from it or find some guidance there.’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
فَلَمَّآ
أَتَىٰهَا
نُودِيَ
يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ
١١
When he came to the fire, he was summoned, ‘Moses!
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
إِنِّيٓ
أَنَا۠
رَبُّكَ
فَٱخۡلَعۡ
نَعۡلَيۡكَ
إِنَّكَ
بِٱلۡوَادِ
ٱلۡمُقَدَّسِ
طُوٗى
١٢
I am your Lord. Take off your shoes: you are in the sacred valley of Tuwa.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَأَنَا
ٱخۡتَرۡتُكَ
فَٱسۡتَمِعۡ
لِمَا
يُوحَىٰٓ
١٣
I have chosen you, so listen to what is being revealed.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
إِنَّنِيٓ
أَنَا
ٱللَّهُ
لَآ
إِلَٰهَ
إِلَّآ
أَنَا۠
فَٱعۡبُدۡنِي
وَأَقِمِ
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
لِذِكۡرِيٓ
١٤
I am God; there is no god but Me. So worship Me and keep up the prayer so that you remember Me.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
إِنَّ
ٱلسَّاعَةَ
ءَاتِيَةٌ
أَكَادُ
أُخۡفِيهَا
لِتُجۡزَىٰ
كُلُّ
نَفۡسِۭ
بِمَا
تَسۡعَىٰ
١٥
The Hour is coming––though I choose to keep it hidden––for each soul to be rewarded for its labour.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
فَلَا
يَصُدَّنَّكَ
عَنۡهَا
مَن
لَّا
يُؤۡمِنُ
بِهَا
وَٱتَّبَعَ
هَوَىٰهُ
فَتَرۡدَىٰ
١٦
Do not let anyone who does not believe in it and follows his own desires distract you from it, and so bring you to ruin.’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَمَا
تِلۡكَ
بِيَمِينِكَ
يَٰمُوسَىٰ
١٧
‘Moses, what is that in your right hand?’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
قَالَ
هِيَ
عَصَايَ
أَتَوَكَّؤُاْ
عَلَيۡهَا
وَأَهُشُّ
بِهَا
عَلَىٰ
غَنَمِي
وَلِيَ
فِيهَا
مَـَٔارِبُ
أُخۡرَىٰ
١٨
‘It is my staff,’ he said, ‘I lean on it; restrain my sheep with it; I also have other uses for it.’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
قَالَ
أَلۡقِهَا
يَٰمُوسَىٰ
١٩
God said, ‘Throw it down, Moses.’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
فَأَلۡقَىٰهَا
فَإِذَا
هِيَ
حَيَّةٞ
تَسۡعَىٰ
٢٠
He threw it down and- lo and behold!- it became a fast-moving snake.
