بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
وَزِنُواْ
بِٱلۡقِسۡطَاسِ
ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمِ
١٨٢
Weigh with correct scales:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَلَا
تَبۡخَسُواْ
ٱلنَّاسَ
أَشۡيَآءَهُمۡ
وَلَا
تَعۡثَوۡاْ
فِي
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
مُفۡسِدِينَ
١٨٣
do not deprive people of what is theirs. Do not spread corruption on earth.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَٱتَّقُواْ
ٱلَّذِي
خَلَقَكُمۡ
وَٱلۡجِبِلَّةَ
ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
١٨٤
Be mindful of God who created you and former generations,’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
قَالُوٓاْ
إِنَّمَآ
أَنتَ
مِنَ
ٱلۡمُسَحَّرِينَ
١٨٥
but they replied, ‘You are bewitched!
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَمَآ
أَنتَ
إِلَّا
بَشَرٞ
مِّثۡلُنَا
وَإِن
نَّظُنُّكَ
لَمِنَ
ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ
١٨٦
You are nothing but a man like us. In fact we think you are a liar.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
فَأَسۡقِطۡ
عَلَيۡنَا
كِسَفٗا
مِّنَ
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
إِن
كُنتَ
مِنَ
ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ
١٨٧
Make bits of the heavens fall down on us, if you are telling the truth.’

قَالَ
رَبِّيٓ
أَعۡلَمُ
بِمَا
تَعۡمَلُونَ
١٨٨
He said, ‘My Lord knows best what you do.’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
فَكَذَّبُوهُ
فَأَخَذَهُمۡ
عَذَابُ
يَوۡمِ
ٱلظُّلَّةِۚ
إِنَّهُۥ
كَانَ
عَذَابَ
يَوۡمٍ
عَظِيمٍ
١٨٩
They called him a liar, and so the torment of the Day of Shadow came upon them- it was the torment of a terrible day.

إِنَّ
فِي
ذَٰلِكَ
لَأٓيَةٗۖ
وَمَا
كَانَ
أَكۡثَرُهُم
مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
١٩٠
There truly is a sign in this, though most of them will not believe:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَإِنَّ
رَبَّكَ
لَهُوَ
ٱلۡعَزِيزُ
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
١٩١
your Lord alone is the Almighty, the Merciful.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَإِنَّهُۥ
لَتَنزِيلُ
رَبِّ
ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
١٩٢
Truly, this Quran has been sent down by the Lord of the Worlds:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
نَزَلَ
بِهِ
ٱلرُّوحُ
ٱلۡأَمِينُ
١٩٣
the Trustworthy Spirit brought it down
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
عَلَىٰ
قَلۡبِكَ
لِتَكُونَ
مِنَ
ٱلۡمُنذِرِينَ
١٩٤
to your heart [Prophet], so that you could bring warning
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
بِلِسَانٍ
عَرَبِيّٖ
مُّبِينٖ
١٩٥
in a clear Arabic tongue.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَإِنَّهُۥ
لَفِي
زُبُرِ
ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
١٩٦
This was foretold in the scriptures of earlier religions.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
أَوَلَمۡ
يَكُن
لَّهُمۡ
ءَايَةً
أَن
يَعۡلَمَهُۥ
عُلَمَٰٓؤُاْ
بَنِيٓ
إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ
١٩٧
Is it not proof enough for them that the learned men of the Children of Israel have recognized it?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَلَوۡ
نَزَّلۡنَٰهُ
عَلَىٰ
بَعۡضِ
ٱلۡأَعۡجَمِينَ
١٩٨
If We had sent it down to someone who was not an Arab,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
فَقَرَأَهُۥ
عَلَيۡهِم
مَّا
كَانُواْ
بِهِۦ
مُؤۡمِنِينَ
١٩٩
and he had recited it to them, they still would not have believed in it.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
كَذَٰلِكَ
سَلَكۡنَٰهُ
فِي
قُلُوبِ
ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ
٢٠٠
So We make it pass straight through the hearts of the guilty:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
لَا
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
بِهِۦ
حَتَّىٰ
يَرَوُاْ
ٱلۡعَذَابَ
ٱلۡأَلِيمَ
٢٠١
they will not believe in it until they see the grievous torment,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
فَيَأۡتِيَهُم
بَغۡتَةٗ
وَهُمۡ
لَا
يَشۡعُرُونَ
٢٠٢
which will suddenly hit them when they are not expecting it,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
فَيَقُولُواْ
هَلۡ
نَحۡنُ
مُنظَرُونَ
٢٠٣
and then they will say, ‘Can we have more time?’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا
يَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ
٢٠٤
How can they ask that Our punishment be brought to them sooner?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
أَفَرَءَيۡتَ
إِن
مَّتَّعۡنَٰهُمۡ
سِنِينَ
٢٠٥
Think, if we let them enjoy this life for some years
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
ثُمَّ
جَآءَهُم
مَّا
كَانُواْ
يُوعَدُونَ
٢٠٦
and then the promised torment came upon them,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
مَآ
أَغۡنَىٰ
عَنۡهُم
مَّا
كَانُواْ
يُمَتَّعُونَ
٢٠٧
what good would their past enjoyment be to them?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَمَآ
أَهۡلَكۡنَا
مِن
قَرۡيَةٍ
إِلَّا
لَهَا
مُنذِرُونَ
٢٠٨
Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
ذِكۡرَىٰ
وَمَا
كُنَّا
ظَٰلِمِينَ
٢٠٩
as a reminder from Us: We are never unjust.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَمَا
تَنَزَّلَتۡ
بِهِ
ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ
٢١٠
It was not the jinn who brought down this Quran:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَمَا
يَنۢبَغِي
لَهُمۡ
وَمَا
يَسۡتَطِيعُونَ
٢١١
it is neither in their interests nor in their power,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
إِنَّهُمۡ
عَنِ
ٱلسَّمۡعِ
لَمَعۡزُولُونَ
٢١٢
indeed they are prevented from overhearing it.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
فَلَا
تَدۡعُ
مَعَ
ٱللَّهِ
إِلَٰهًا
ءَاخَرَ
فَتَكُونَ
مِنَ
ٱلۡمُعَذَّبِينَ
٢١٣
So [Prophet] do not invoke any gods beside God, or you will incur punishment.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَأَنذِرۡ
عَشِيرَتَكَ
ٱلۡأَقۡرَبِينَ
٢١٤
Warn your nearest kinsfolk
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَٱخۡفِضۡ
جَنَاحَكَ
لِمَنِ
ٱتَّبَعَكَ
مِنَ
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
٢١٥
and lower your wing tenderly over the believers who follow you.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
فَإِنۡ
عَصَوۡكَ
فَقُلۡ
إِنِّي
بَرِيٓءٞ
مِّمَّا
تَعۡمَلُونَ
٢١٦
If they disobey you, say, ‘I bear no responsibility for your actions.’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَتَوَكَّلۡ
عَلَى
ٱلۡعَزِيزِ
ٱلرَّحِيمِ
٢١٧
Put your trust in the Almighty, the Merciful,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
ٱلَّذِي
يَرَىٰكَ
حِينَ
تَقُومُ
٢١٨
who sees you when you stand up [for prayer]
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَتَقَلُّبَكَ
فِي
ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ
٢١٩
and sees your movements among the worshippers:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
إِنَّهُۥ
هُوَ
ٱلسَّمِيعُ
ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
٢٢٠
He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
هَلۡ
أُنَبِّئُكُمۡ
عَلَىٰ
مَن
تَنَزَّلُ
ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ
٢٢١
Shall I tell you who the jinn come down to?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
تَنَزَّلُ
عَلَىٰ
كُلِّ
أَفَّاكٍ
أَثِيمٖ
٢٢٢
They come down to every lying sinner
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
يُلۡقُونَ
ٱلسَّمۡعَ
وَأَكۡثَرُهُمۡ
كَٰذِبُونَ
٢٢٣
who readily lends an ear to them, and most of them are liars:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُ
يَتَّبِعُهُمُ
ٱلۡغَاوُۥنَ
٢٢٤
only those who are lost in error follow the poets.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
أَلَمۡ
تَرَ
أَنَّهُمۡ
فِي
كُلِّ
وَادٖ
يَهِيمُونَ
٢٢٥
Do you not see how they rove aimlessly in every valley;
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَأَنَّهُمۡ
يَقُولُونَ
مَا
لَا
يَفۡعَلُونَ
٢٢٦
how they say what they do not do?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
إِلَّا
ٱلَّذِينَ
ءَامَنُواْ
وَعَمِلُواْ
ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ
وَذَكَرُواْ
ٱللَّهَ
كَثِيرٗا
وَٱنتَصَرُواْ
مِنۢ
بَعۡدِ
مَا
ظُلِمُواْۗ
وَسَيَعۡلَمُ
ٱلَّذِينَ
ظَلَمُوٓاْ
أَيَّ
مُنقَلَبٖ
يَنقَلِبُونَ
٢٢٧
Not so those [poets] who believe, do good deeds, remember God often, and defend themselves after they have been wronged. The evildoers will find out what they will return to.
