Surah Al-Inshiqaq (The Sundering) — 25 verses
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
84:2
وَأَذِنَتۡ
لِرَبِّهَا
وَحُقَّتۡ
٢
obeying its Lord as it rightly must,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
84:3
وَإِذَا
ٱلۡأَرۡضُ
مُدَّتۡ
٣
when the earth is levelled out,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
84:4
وَأَلۡقَتۡ
مَا
فِيهَا
وَتَخَلَّتۡ
٤
casts out its contents, and becomes empty,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
84:5
وَأَذِنَتۡ
لِرَبِّهَا
وَحُقَّتۡ
٥
obeying its Lord as it rightly must,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
84:6
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ
إِنَّكَ
كَادِحٌ
إِلَىٰ
رَبِّكَ
كَدۡحٗا
فَمُلَٰقِيهِ
٦
you humans, toiling laboriously towards your Lord, will meet Him:

84:7
فَأَمَّا
مَنۡ
أُوتِيَ
كِتَٰبَهُۥ
بِيَمِينِهِۦ
٧
whoever is given his record in his right hand
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
84:8
فَسَوۡفَ
يُحَاسَبُ
حِسَابٗا
يَسِيرٗا
٨
will have an easy reckoning
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
84:9
وَيَنقَلِبُ
إِلَىٰٓ
أَهۡلِهِۦ
مَسۡرُورٗا
٩
and return to his people well pleased,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
84:10
وَأَمَّا
مَنۡ
أُوتِيَ
كِتَٰبَهُۥ
وَرَآءَ
ظَهۡرِهِۦ
١٠
but whoever is given his record from behind his back
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
84:11
فَسَوۡفَ
يَدۡعُواْ
ثُبُورٗا
١١
will cry out for destruction––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
84:12
وَيَصۡلَىٰ
سَعِيرًا
١٢
he will burn in the blazing Fire.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
84:13
إِنَّهُۥ
كَانَ
فِيٓ
أَهۡلِهِۦ
مَسۡرُورًا
١٣
He used to live among his people well pleased.

84:14
إِنَّهُۥ
ظَنَّ
أَن
لَّن
يَحُورَ
١٤
He thought he would never return [to his Lord]––
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
84:15
بَلَىٰٓۚ
إِنَّ
رَبَّهُۥ
كَانَ
بِهِۦ
بَصِيرٗا
١٥
indeed he will! His Lord was watching him.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
84:16
فَلَآ
أُقۡسِمُ
بِٱلشَّفَقِ
١٦
I swear by the glow of sunset,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
84:17
وَٱلَّيۡلِ
وَمَا
وَسَقَ
١٧
by the night and what it covers,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
84:18
وَٱلۡقَمَرِ
إِذَا
ٱتَّسَقَ
١٨
by the full moon,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
84:19
لَتَرۡكَبُنَّ
طَبَقًا
عَن
طَبَقٖ
١٩
you will progress from stage to stage.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
84:20
فَمَا
لَهُمۡ
لَا
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
٢٠
So why do they not believe?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
84:21
وَإِذَا
قُرِئَ
عَلَيۡهِمُ
ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ
لَا
يَسۡجُدُونَۤ ۩
٢١
Why, when the Quran is read to them, do they not prostrate themselves [to God]?

84:22
بَلِ
ٱلَّذِينَ
كَفَرُواْ
يُكَذِّبُونَ
٢٢
No! The disbelievers reject the Quran––

84:23
وَٱللَّهُ
أَعۡلَمُ
بِمَا
يُوعُونَ
٢٣
God knows best what they keep hidden inside––

84:24
فَبَشِّرۡهُم
بِعَذَابٍ
أَلِيمٍ
٢٤
so give them news of a painful torment.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
84:25
إِلَّا
ٱلَّذِينَ
ءَامَنُواْ
وَعَمِلُواْ
ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ
لَهُمۡ
أَجۡرٌ
غَيۡرُ
مَمۡنُونِۭ
٢٥
But those who believe and do good deeds will have a never-ending reward.
