بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

وَٱلصَّٰٓفَّٰتِ
صَفّٗا
١
By those [angels] ranged in rows,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِ
زَجۡرٗا
٢
who rebuke reproachfully

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَٱلتَّٰلِيَٰتِ
ذِكۡرًا
٣
and recite God’s word,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

إِنَّ
إِلَٰهَكُمۡ
لَوَٰحِدٞ
٤
truly your God is One,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

رَّبُّ
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ
وَمَا
بَيۡنَهُمَا
وَرَبُّ
ٱلۡمَشَٰرِقِ
٥
Lord of the heavens and earth and everything between them, Lord of every sunrise.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

إِنَّا
زَيَّنَّا
ٱلسَّمَآءَ
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
بِزِينَةٍ
ٱلۡكَوَاكِبِ
٦
We have adorned the lowest heaven with stars,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَحِفۡظٗا
مِّن
كُلِّ
شَيۡطَٰنٖ
مَّارِدٖ
٧
and made them a safeguard against every rebellious devil:

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

لَّا
يَسَّمَّعُونَ
إِلَى
ٱلۡمَلَإِ
ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ
وَيُقۡذَفُونَ
مِن
كُلِّ
جَانِبٖ
٨
they cannot eavesdrop on the Higher Assembly––pelted from every side,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

دُحُورٗاۖ
وَلَهُمۡ
عَذَابٞ
وَاصِبٌ
٩
driven away, they will have perpetual torment––

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

إِلَّا
مَنۡ
خَطِفَ
ٱلۡخَطۡفَةَ
فَأَتۡبَعَهُۥ
شِهَابٞ
ثَاقِبٞ
١٠
if any [of them] stealthily snatches away a fragment, he will be pursued by a piercing flame.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَٱسۡتَفۡتِهِمۡ
أَهُمۡ
أَشَدُّ
خَلۡقًا
أَم
مَّنۡ
خَلَقۡنَآۚ
إِنَّا
خَلَقۡنَٰهُم
مِّن
طِينٖ
لَّازِبِۭ
١١
So [Prophet], ask the disbelievers: is it harder to create them than other beings We have created? We created them from sticky clay.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

بَلۡ
عَجِبۡتَ
وَيَسۡخَرُونَ
١٢
You marvel as they scoff,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَإِذَا
ذُكِّرُواْ
لَا
يَذۡكُرُونَ
١٣
take no heed when they are warned,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَإِذَا
رَأَوۡاْ
ءَايَةٗ
يَسۡتَسۡخِرُونَ
١٤
and resort to ridicule when they see a sign,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَقَالُوٓاْ
إِنۡ
هَٰذَآ
إِلَّا
سِحۡرٞ
مُّبِينٌ
١٥
saying, ‘This is no more than blatant sorcery.’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

أَءِذَا
مِتۡنَا
وَكُنَّا
تُرَابٗا
وَعِظَٰمًا
أَءِنَّا
لَمَبۡعُوثُونَ
١٦
‘What! After we have died and become dust and bones, shall we really be raised up again,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا
ٱلۡأَوَّلُونَ
١٧
along with our forefathers?’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

قُلۡ
نَعَمۡ
وَأَنتُمۡ
دَٰخِرُونَ
١٨
Say, ‘Yes indeed, and you will be humiliated.’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَإِنَّمَا
هِيَ
زَجۡرَةٞ
وَٰحِدَةٞ
فَإِذَا
هُمۡ
يَنظُرُونَ
١٩
Just one blast and––lo and behold!––they will look

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَقَالُواْ
يَٰوَيۡلَنَا
هَٰذَا
يَوۡمُ
ٱلدِّينِ
٢٠
and say, ‘Woe to us! This is the Day of Judgement.’
