بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

۞ وَإِنَّ
مِن
شِيعَتِهِۦ
لَإِبۡرَٰهِيمَ
٨٣
Abraham was of the same faith:

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

إِذۡ
جَآءَ
رَبَّهُۥ
بِقَلۡبٖ
سَلِيمٍ
٨٤
he came to his Lord with a devoted heart.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

إِذۡ
قَالَ
لِأَبِيهِ
وَقَوۡمِهِۦ
مَاذَا
تَعۡبُدُونَ
٨٥
He said to his father and his people, ‘What are you worshipping?

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

أَئِفۡكًا
ءَالِهَةٗ
دُونَ
ٱللَّهِ
تُرِيدُونَ
٨٦
How can you choose false gods instead of the true God?

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَمَا
ظَنُّكُم
بِرَبِّ
ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
٨٧
So what is your opinion about the Lord of all the Worlds?’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَنَظَرَ
نَظۡرَةٗ
فِي
ٱلنُّجُومِ
٨٨
then he looked up to the stars.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَقَالَ
إِنِّي
سَقِيمٞ
٨٩
He said, ‘I am sick,’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَتَوَلَّوۡاْ
عَنۡهُ
مُدۡبِرِينَ
٩٠
so [his people] turned away from him and left.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَرَاغَ
إِلَىٰٓ
ءَالِهَتِهِمۡ
فَقَالَ
أَلَا
تَأۡكُلُونَ
٩١
He turned to their gods and said, ‘Do you not eat?

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

مَا
لَكُمۡ
لَا
تَنطِقُونَ
٩٢
Why do you not speak?’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَرَاغَ
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
ضَرۡبَۢا
بِٱلۡيَمِينِ
٩٣
then he turned and struck them with his right arm.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَأَقۡبَلُوٓاْ
إِلَيۡهِ
يَزِفُّونَ
٩٤
His people hurried towards him,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

قَالَ
أَتَعۡبُدُونَ
مَا
تَنۡحِتُونَ
٩٥
but he said, ‘How can you worship things you carve with your own hands,

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَٱللَّهُ
خَلَقَكُمۡ
وَمَا
تَعۡمَلُونَ
٩٦
when it is God who has created you and all your handiwork?’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

قَالُواْ
ٱبۡنُواْ
لَهُۥ
بُنۡيَٰنٗا
فَأَلۡقُوهُ
فِي
ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
٩٧
They said, ‘Build a pyre and throw him into the blazing fire.’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَأَرَادُواْ
بِهِۦ
كَيۡدٗا
فَجَعَلۡنَٰهُمُ
ٱلۡأَسۡفَلِينَ
٩٨
They wanted to harm him, but We humiliated them.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

وَقَالَ
إِنِّي
ذَاهِبٌ
إِلَىٰ
رَبِّي
سَيَهۡدِينِ
٩٩
He said, ‘I will go to my Lord: He is sure to guide me.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

رَبِّ
هَبۡ
لِي
مِنَ
ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ
١٠٠
Lord, grant me a righteous son,’

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَبَشَّرۡنَٰهُ
بِغُلَٰمٍ
حَلِيمٖ
١٠١
so We gave him the good news that he would have a patient son.

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

فَلَمَّا
بَلَغَ
مَعَهُ
ٱلسَّعۡيَ
قَالَ
يَٰبُنَيَّ
إِنِّيٓ
أَرَىٰ
فِي
ٱلۡمَنَامِ
أَنِّيٓ
أَذۡبَحُكَ
فَٱنظُرۡ
مَاذَا
تَرَىٰۚ
قَالَ
يَٰٓأَبَتِ
ٱفۡعَلۡ
مَا
تُؤۡمَرُۖ
سَتَجِدُنِيٓ
إِن
شَآءَ
ٱللَّهُ
مِنَ
ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ
١٠٢
When the boy was old enough to work with his father, Abraham said, ‘My son, I have seen myself sacrificing you in a dream. What do you think?’ He said, ‘Father, do as you are commanded and, God willing, you will find me steadfast.’
