Eid al-Adha 2026

Eid al-Adha 2026 is expected on May 27, 2026, falling on 10 Dhul Hijjah in the Islamic calendar. The celebration lasts for four days (10th-13th Dhul Hijjah), known as the Days of Tashreeq.

Qurbani is the ritual sacrifice of a livestock animal (sheep, goat, cow, or camel) performed on Eid al-Adha. It commemorates Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son. The meat is divided into three parts: one-third for the family, one-third for relatives and friends, and one-third for those in need. Qurbani is obligatory for Muslims who meet the financial threshold (nisab).

Eid al-Adha lasts for four days, from the 10th to the 13th of Dhul Hijjah. The 11th, 12th, and 13th are known as the Days of Tashreeq, during which additional Qurbani can be performed. The Takbirat (declarations of Allah's greatness) are recited after every obligatory prayer from the Fajr of the 9th (Day of Arafah) until the Asr of the 13th.

Eid al-Adha coincides with the Hajj pilgrimage. On the Day of Arafah (9th Dhul Hijjah), pilgrims stand at Mount Arafah in prayer. The following day (10th), pilgrims perform the ritual stoning of the Jamarat and offer their sacrifice, while Muslims worldwide celebrate Eid al-Adha with their own Qurbani.
