- 11:75 Hud إِنَّ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ لَحَلِيمٌ أَوَّٰهٌ مُّنِيبٌ for Abraham was forbearing, tender-hearted, and devout.
He answered, ‘My people, can you not see? What if I am acting on clear evidence from my Lord? He Himself has given me good provision: I do not want to do what I am forbidding you to do, I only want to put things right as far as I can. I cannot succeed without God’s help: I trust in Him, and always turn to Him.
- 25:63 Al-Furqan وَعِبَادُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَمْشُونَ عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ هَوْنًا وَإِذَا خَاطَبَهُمُ ٱلْجَـٰهِلُونَ قَالُوا۟ سَلَـٰمًا The servants of the Lord of Mercy are those who walk humbly on the earth, and who, when the foolish address them, reply, ‘Peace’;
- 25:64 Al-Furqan وَٱلَّذِينَ يَبِيتُونَ لِرَبِّهِمْ سُجَّدًا وَقِيَـٰمًا those who spend the night bowed down or standing, worshipping their Lord,
- 25:65 Al-Furqan وَٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا ٱصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَنَّمَ ۖ إِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا who plead, ‘Our Lord, turn away from us the suffering of Hell, for it is a dreadful torment to suffer!
It is an evil home, a foul resting place!’
- 25:67 Al-Furqan وَٱلَّذِينَ إِذَآ أَنفَقُوا۟ لَمْ يُسْرِفُوا۟ وَلَمْ يَقْتُرُوا۟ وَكَانَ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ قَوَامًا They are those who are neither wasteful nor niggardly when they spend, but keep to a just balance;
- 25:68 Al-Furqan وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَدْعُونَ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ وَلَا يَقْتُلُونَ ٱلنَّفْسَ ٱلَّتِى حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَا يَزْنُونَ ۚ وَمَن يَفْعَلْ ذَٰلِكَ يَلْقَ أَثَامًا those who never invoke any other deity beside God, nor take a life, which God has made sacred, except in the pursuit of justice, nor commit adultery. (Whoever does these things will face the penalties:
- 25:69 Al-Furqan يُضَـٰعَفْ لَهُ ٱلْعَذَابُ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ وَيَخْلُدْ فِيهِۦ مُهَانًا their torment will be doubled on the Day of Resurrection, and they will remain in torment, disgraced,
- 25:70 Al-Furqan إِلَّا مَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ عَمَلًا صَـٰلِحًا فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ يُبَدِّلُ ٱللَّهُ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ حَسَنَـٰتٍ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا except those who repent, believe, and do good deeds: God will change the evil deeds of such people into good ones. He is most forgiving, most merciful.
People who repent and do good deeds truly return to God.)
- 25:72 Al-Furqan وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَشْهَدُونَ ٱلزُّورَ وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِٱللَّغْوِ مَرُّوا۟ كِرَامًا [The servants of the Lord of Mercy are] those who do not give false testimony, and who, when they see some frivolity, pass by with dignity;
- 25:73 Al-Furqan وَٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ لَمْ يَخِرُّوا۟ عَلَيْهَا صُمًّا وَعُمْيَانًا who, when reminded of their Lord’s signs, do not turn a deaf ear and a blind eye to them;
- 25:74 Al-Furqan وَٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَٰجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّـٰتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَٱجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا those who pray, ‘Our Lord, give us joy in our spouses and offspring. Make us good examples to those who are aware of You’.
These servants will be rewarded with the highest place in Paradise for their steadfastness. There they will be met with greetings and peace.
There they will stay- a happy home and resting place!
Do they not think about what is in front of them and behind them in the heavens and earth? If We wished, We could make the earth swallow them, or make fragments from the heavens fall down upon them. There truly is a sign in this for every servant who turns back to God in repentance.
Say, ‘My Lord hurls the Truth down [before you]. He has full knowledge of all that is unseen.’
We gave the Scripture as a heritage to Our chosen servants: some of them wronged their own souls, some stayed between [right and wrong], and some, by God’s leave, were foremost in good deeds. That is the greatest favour:
Not so God’s true servants.
They will have familiar provisions––
- 37:42 As-Saffat فَوَٰكِهُ ۖ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ fruits- and will be honoured
- 37:43 As-Saffat فِى جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ in gardens of delight;
- 37:44 As-Saffat عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَ seated on couches, facing one another.
A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring:
- 37:46 As-Saffat بَيْضَآءَ لَذَّةٍ لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ white, delicious to those who taste it,
- 37:47 As-Saffat لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ causing no headiness or intoxication.
With them will be spouses- modest of gaze and beautiful of eye-
- 37:49 As-Saffat كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَّكْنُونٌ like protected eggs.
Not so the true servants of God.
- 37:160 As-Saffat إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ the true servants of God do not do such things-
- 39:18 Az-Zumar ٱلَّذِينَ يَسْتَمِعُونَ ٱلْقَوْلَ فَيَتَّبِعُونَ أَحْسَنَهُۥٓ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَدَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۖ وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمْ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ who listen to what is said and follow what is best. These are the ones God has guided; these are the people of understanding.
- 43:68 Az-Zukhruf يَـٰعِبَادِ لَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ وَلَآ أَنتُمْ تَحْزَنُونَ ‘My servants, there is no fear for you today, nor shall you grieve’––
- 43:69 Az-Zukhruf ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا وَكَانُوا۟ مُسْلِمِينَ those who believed in Our revelations and devoted themselves to Us.
- 43:70 Az-Zukhruf ٱدْخُلُوا۟ ٱلْجَنَّةَ أَنتُمْ وَأَزْوَٰجُكُمْ تُحْبَرُونَ ‘Enter Paradise, you and your spouses: you will be filled with joy.’
Dishes and goblets of gold will be passed around them with all that their souls desire and their eyes delight in. ‘There you will remain:
- 43:72 Az-Zukhruf وَتِلْكَ ٱلْجَنَّةُ ٱلَّتِىٓ أُورِثْتُمُوهَا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ this is the Garden you are given as your own, because of what you used to do,
- 43:73 Az-Zukhruf لَكُمْ فِيهَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ كَثِيرَةٌ مِّنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ and there is abundant fruit in it for you to eat.’
- 50:8 Qaf تَبْصِرَةً وَذِكْرَىٰ لِكُلِّ عَبْدٍ مُّنِيبٍ as a lesson and reminder for every servant who turns to God;
Why should you not give for God’s cause when God alone will inherit what is in the heavens and earth? Those who gave and fought before the triumph are not like others: they are greater in rank than those who gave and fought afterwards. But God has promised a good reward to all of them: God is fully aware of all that you do.
