Prayer Times in Schleswig-Holstein 🇩🇪

Prayer times vary across Schleswig-Holstein with each city's position. Today in Kiel, Fajr at 5:26 AM, Sunrise at 7:21 AM, Dhuhr at 12:08 PM, Asr at 2:15 PM, Maghrib at 4:45 PM and Isha at 6:34 PM; each city page gives its own times.

The default for Schleswig-Holstein is the Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı method. Each city page names the method it uses, and you can choose another if your mosque follows one.

The Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı method used in Schleswig-Holstein sets Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon before sunrise, and Isha when it is 17° below the horizon after sunset.

Prayer times follow the sun, so they shift with each place's longitude and latitude: within one time zone the sun rises, peaks and sets earlier the further east a place lies, and day length varies more the further it is from the equator. This is the view of Abu Hanifa, followed by the Hanafi school. You can switch to it if your mosque follows it.

For nights when the usual Fajr or Isha time cannot be reached, prayer times in Schleswig-Holstein use the One seventh of the night rule. On nights when the sun does not sink as far as the method's twilight angle, Fajr is no earlier than one seventh of the night before sunrise and Isha no later than one seventh of the night after sunset. The Moonsighting Committee applies it above 55° latitude.

Each city's times are worked out for its own location with the Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı method and given to the minute. A printed timetable can differ by a minute or two because it rounds times or adds minutes of caution; a bigger gap usually means a different method, Asr time or high-latitude rule.
