By an act of mercy from God, you [Prophet] were gentle in your dealings with them- had you been harsh, or hard-hearted, they would have dispersed and left you- so pardon them and ask forgiveness for them. Consult with them about matters, then, when you have decided on a course of action, put your trust in God: God loves those who put their trust in Him.
Say, ‘To whom belongs all that is in the heavens and earth?’ Say, ‘To God. Your Lord has taken it on Himself to be merciful: if any of you has foolishly done a bad deed, and afterwards repented and mended his ways, God is most forgiving and most merciful.’
Once again, We gave Moses the Scripture, perfecting [Our favour] for those who do good, explaining everything clearly, as guidance and mercy, so that they might believe in the meeting with their Lord.
This, too, is a blessed Scripture which We have sent down- follow it and be conscious of your Lord, so that you may receive mercy-

When Moses’ anger abated, he picked up the Tablets, on which were inscribed guidance and mercy for those who stood in awe of their Lord.
When you do not bring them a fresh revelation, they say, ‘But can you not just ask for one?’ Say, ‘I merely repeat what is revealed to me from my Lord: this revelation brings you insights from your Lord, and guidance and mercy for those who believe,
- 7:204 Al-A'raf وَإِذَا قُرِئَ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ فَٱسْتَمِعُوا۟ لَهُۥ وَأَنصِتُوا۟ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ so pay attention and listen quietly when the Quran is recited, so that you may be given mercy.’

Say, ‘God schemes even faster.’ Our messengers-angels record all your scheming.
People, a teaching from your Lord has come to you, a healing for what is in [your] hearts, and guidance and mercy for the believers.

This revelation is no fabrication: it is a confirmation of the truth of what was sent before it; an explanation of everything; a guide and a blessing for those who believe.
We have sent down the Scripture to you only to make clear to them what they differ about, and as guidance and mercy to those who believe.

Your Lord has the most knowledge about all of you: if He pleases He will have mercy on you, and if He pleases He will punish you. [Prophet], We did not send you to take charge of them.
We send down the Quran as healing and mercy to those who believe; as for those who disbelieve, it only increases their loss.
It was only as a mercy that We sent you [Prophet] to all people.

Say [Prophet], ‘Lord, forgive and have mercy: You are the most merciful of all.’
