۞ قَالُوٓاْ
أَنُؤۡمِنُ
لَكَ
وَٱتَّبَعَكَ
ٱلۡأَرۡذَلُونَ

They answered, ‘Why should we believe you when the worst sort of people follow you?’

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
قَالَ
وَمَا
عِلۡمِي
بِمَا
كَانُواْ
يَعۡمَلُونَ
١١٢
He said, ‘What knowledge do I have of what they used to do?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
إِنۡ
حِسَابُهُمۡ
إِلَّا
عَلَىٰ
رَبِّيۖ
لَوۡ
تَشۡعُرُونَ
١١٣
It is for my Lord alone to bring them to account- if only you could see-
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَمَآ
أَنَا۠
بِطَارِدِ
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
١١٤
I will not drive believers away.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
إِنۡ
أَنَا۠
إِلَّا
نَذِيرٞ
مُّبِينٞ
١١٥
I am here only to give people a clear warning.’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
قَالُواْ
لَئِن
لَّمۡ
تَنتَهِ
يَٰنُوحُ
لَتَكُونَنَّ
مِنَ
ٱلۡمَرۡجُومِينَ
١١٦
So they said, ‘Noah, if you do not stop this, you will be stoned.’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
قَالَ
رَبِّ
إِنَّ
قَوۡمِي
كَذَّبُونِ
١١٧
He said, ‘My Lord, my people have rejected me,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
فَٱفۡتَحۡ
بَيۡنِي
وَبَيۡنَهُمۡ
فَتۡحٗا
وَنَجِّنِي
وَمَن
مَّعِيَ
مِنَ
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
١١٨
so make a firm judgement between me and them, and save me and my believing followers.’
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
فَأَنجَيۡنَٰهُ
وَمَن
مَّعَهُۥ
فِي
ٱلۡفُلۡكِ
ٱلۡمَشۡحُونِ
١١٩
So We saved him and his followers in the fully laden ship,
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
ثُمَّ
أَغۡرَقۡنَا
بَعۡدُ
ٱلۡبَاقِينَ
١٢٠
and drowned the rest.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
إِنَّ
فِي
ذَٰلِكَ
لَأٓيَةٗۖ
وَمَا
كَانَ
أَكۡثَرُهُم
مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
١٢١
There truly is a sign in this, though most of them do not believe:

وَإِنَّ
رَبَّكَ
لَهُوَ
ٱلۡعَزِيزُ
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
١٢٢
your Lord alone is the Almighty, the Merciful.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
كَذَّبَتۡ
عَادٌ
ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
١٢٣
The people of Ad, too, called the messengers liars.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
إِذۡ
قَالَ
لَهُمۡ
أَخُوهُمۡ
هُودٌ
أَلَا
تَتَّقُونَ
١٢٤
Their brother Hud said to them, ‘Will you not be mindful of God?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
إِنِّي
لَكُمۡ
رَسُولٌ
أَمِينٞ
١٢٥
I am a faithful messenger sent to you:
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
فَٱتَّقُواْ
ٱللَّهَ
وَأَطِيعُونِ
١٢٦
be mindful of God and obey me.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَمَآ
أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ
عَلَيۡهِ
مِنۡ
أَجۡرٍۖ
إِنۡ
أَجۡرِيَ
إِلَّا
عَلَىٰ
رَبِّ
ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
١٢٧
I ask no reward of you, for my only reward is with the Lord of the Worlds.

أَتَبۡنُونَ
بِكُلِّ
رِيعٍ
ءَايَةٗ
تَعۡبَثُونَ
١٢٨
How can you be so vain that you set up monuments on every high place?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَتَتَّخِذُونَ
مَصَانِعَ
لَعَلَّكُمۡ
تَخۡلُدُونَ
١٢٩
Do you build fortresses because you hope to be immortal?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
وَإِذَا
بَطَشۡتُم
بَطَشۡتُمۡ
جَبَّارِينَ
١٣٠
Why do you act like tyrants whenever you attack someone?
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
