Seeking Refuge, Then Affirming Allah as Ever-Living

I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan. Allah: there is no god but Him, the Ever-Living, the Self-Sustaining. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is there that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills. His Kursī extends over the heavens and the earth, and guarding them does not weigh on Him. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

Aʿūdhu bi-llāhi mina-sh-shayṭāni-r-rajīm. Allāhu lā ilāha illā huwa-l-ḥayyu-l-qayyūm, lā taʾkhudhuhū sinatun wa-lā nawm, lahū mā fi-s-samāwāti wa-mā fi-l-arḍ, man dhā-lladhī yashfaʿu ʿindahū illā bi-idhnih, yaʿlamu mā bayna aydīhim wa-mā khalfahum, wa-lā yuḥīṭūna bi-shayʾin min ʿilmihī illā bi-mā shāʾ, wasiʿa kursiyyuhu-s-samāwāti wa-l-arḍ, wa-lā yaʾūduhū ḥifẓuhumā, wa-huwa-l-ʿaliyyu-l-ʿaẓīm.

Reciting the Three Qul Surahs Morning and Evening

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. Say: He is Allah, One. Allah is the Eternal Refuge. He has not begotten, nor was He begotten, and there is none comparable to Him. In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak, from the evil of what He has created, from the evil of darkness when it settles, from the evil of those who blow on knots, and from the evil of an envier when he envies. In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, the King of mankind, the God of mankind, from the evil of the whisperer who slinks away, who whispers in the hearts of mankind, from among the jinn and mankind.

Bismi-llāhi-r-raḥmāni-r-raḥīm. Qul huwa-llāhu aḥad. Allāhu-ṣ-ṣamad. Lam yalid wa-lam yūlad. Wa-lam yakun lahū kufuwan aḥad. Bismi-llāhi-r-raḥmāni-r-raḥīm. Qul aʿūdhu bi-rabbi-l-falaq. The Master Supplication for Seeking Forgiveness

O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant, and I hold to Your covenant and Your promise as far as I am able. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favour upon me, and I acknowledge my sin to You. So forgive me, for no one forgives sins except You.

Allāhumma anta rabbī lā ilāha illā ant, khalaqtanī wa-anā ʿabduk, wa-anā ʿalā ʿahdika wa-waʿdika mā-staṭaʿt, aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā ṣanaʿt, abūʾu laka bi-niʿmatika ʿalayya wa-abūʾu laka bi-dhanbī, fa-ghfir lī fa-innahū lā yaghfiru-dh-dhunūba illā ant.

Refuge from Worry, Debt and Weakness

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief. I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness. I seek refuge in You from cowardice and miserliness. And I seek refuge in You from being overwhelmed by debt and from the domination of men.

Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika mina-l-hammi wa-l-ḥazan, wa aʿūdhu bika mina-l-ʿajzi wa-l-kasal, wa aʿūdhu bika mina-l-jubni wa-l-bukhl, wa aʿūdhu bika min ghalabati-d-dayni wa qahri-r-rijāl.

Asking for Well-Being and Protection Morning and Evening

O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the next. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly life, my family and my wealth. O Allah, cover my faults and calm my fears. O Allah, protect me from in front of me, from behind me, from my right, from my left and from above me; and I seek refuge in Your greatness from being struck down unseen from beneath me.

Allāhumma innī asʾaluka-l-ʿāfiyata fi-d-dunyā wa-l-ākhira. Allāhumma innī asʾaluka-l-ʿafwa wa-l-ʿāfiyata fī dīnī wa-dunyāya wa-ahlī wa-mālī. Allāhumma-stur ʿawrātī wa-āmin rawʿātī. Morning and Evening Refuge from Self and Shayṭān

O Allah, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, Lord and Sovereign of everything, I bear witness that there is no god but You. I seek refuge in You from the evil of my own self, and from the evil of the Shayṭān and his shirk, and from committing any wrong against myself or dragging it to a Muslim.

Allāhumma fāṭira-s-samāwāti wa-l-arḍi, ʿālima-l-ghaybi wa-sh-shahādati, rabba kulli shayʾin wa malīkahu, ashhadu an lā ilāha illā anta, aʿūdhu bika min sharri nafsī, wa min sharri-sh-shayṭāni wa shirkihi, wa an aqtarifa ʿalā nafsī sūʾan aw ajurrahu ilā muslim.

Calling on the Ever-Living to Set Affairs Right

O Ever-Living, O Self-Sustaining, in Your mercy I cry out for help. Set right all my affairs for me, and do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye.

Yā ḥayyu yā qayyūm, bi-raḥmatika astaghīth, aṣliḥ lī shaʾnī kullahū, wa-lā takilnī ilā nafsī ṭarfata ʿayn.

Acknowledging That Every Blessing Is From Allah

O Allah, whatever blessing has come to me this morning, or to any of Your creation, is from You alone; You have no partner. So all praise belongs to You, and all thanks are Yours.

Allāhumma mā aṣbaḥa bī min niʿmatin aw bi-aḥadin min khalqika, fa-minka waḥdaka lā sharīka laka, fa-laka-l-ḥamdu wa-laka-sh-shukr.

We have entered the morning upon the natural way of Islam, upon the word of sincerity, upon the religion of our Prophet Muḥammad, and upon the creed of our father Ibrāhīm, upright and submitting, and he was not one of the polytheists.

Aṣbaḥnā ʿalā fiṭrati-l-islām, wa-ʿalā kalimati-l-ikhlāṣ, wa-ʿalā dīni nabiyyinā Muḥammad, wa-ʿalā millati abīnā Ibrāhīma ḥanīfan musliman wa-mā kāna mina-l-mushrikīn.

We have entered the morning, and the dominion has entered the morning belonging to Allah, Lord of the worlds. O Allah, I ask You for the good of this day: its opening, its help, its light, its blessing and its guidance; and I seek refuge in You from the evil within it and the evil after it.

Aṣbaḥnā wa-aṣbaḥa-l-mulku li-llāhi rabbi-l-ʿālamīn. Allāhumma innī asʾaluka khayra hādhā-l-yawmi, fatḥahu wa-naṣrahu wa-nūrahu wa-barakatahu wa-hudāh, wa-aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā fīhi wa-sharri mā baʿdah.

Morning Dua Submitting Every Word, Oath and Vow to Allah’s Will

Seeking Contentment, Meeting Allah and Refuge from Wrongdoing

O Allah, I ask You for contentment after the decree, the coolness of life after death, the delight of looking upon Your Face, and a longing to meet You, without any harmful hardship or misleading trial. And I seek refuge in You from wronging or being wronged, from transgressing or being transgressed against, or from earning a sin or an offence that You do not forgive.

Morning and Evening Dua of Praise and Protection from the Fire

O Allah, You are the most deserving of those who are remembered, the most deserving of those who are worshipped, the best helper of those whose aid is sought, the most compassionate of those who hold dominion, the most generous of those who are asked, and the most expansive of those who give. You are the King, with no partner; the Unique, You never perish. Everything will perish except Your Face. You are not obeyed except by Your permission, and You are not disobeyed except with Your knowledge. You are obeyed and You show gratitude; You are disobeyed and You forgive. You are the nearest witness and the closest guardian. You intervene at the frontiers and You hold the forelocks. You have recorded the traces and inscribed the appointed terms. Hearts lie open to You, and the secret with You is as open as the public. The lawful is what You have made lawful, the forbidden is what You have made forbidden, the religion is what You have legislated, and the command is what You have decreed. The creation is Your creation, and the servant is Your servant. You are Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful. I ask You by the light of Your Face, by which the heavens and the earth shone, by every right that is Yours, and by the right of those who ask of You, that You accept me this morning or this evening and that You protect me from the Fire by Your power.

Morning Dua After Sunrise

Praise be to Allah over all His creation, who has brought us the day and its well-being, and has brought us the sun from its place of rising. O Allah, I have reached the morning bearing witness to You with that which You have witnessed to Yourself, and which Your angels and the bearers of Your Throne have witnessed: that You are Allah, there is no god but You, upholding justice; there is no god but Him, the Almighty, the All-Wise. Write my testimony with the testimony of Your angels and those of knowledge, and whoever does not testify as You have testified, write my testimony in place of his testimony. O Allah, You are Peace, and from You is peace, and to You is peace. I ask You, O Possessor of Majesty and Honour, to answer our supplication, to grant us what we desire, and to make us free of need of those among Your creation whom You have made free of need of us. O Allah, set right for me my religion, which is the safeguard of my affair; set right for me my worldly life, in which is my livelihood; and set right for me my Hereafter, to which is my return.

Morning Dua of Submission to Allah’s Will

Here I am, O Allah, here I am; here I am and at Your service. All good is in Your hands, from You and to You. Whatever word I have said, or vow I have vowed, or oath I have sworn, Your will stands before it: what You will of it comes to be, and what You do not will does not come to be. There is no might and no power except through You. Indeed, You have power over all things. O Allah, whatever blessing I have invoked, it falls upon the one upon whom You have bestowed blessings, and whatever curse I have uttered, it falls upon the one whom You have cursed. You are my Protector in this world and the Hereafter. Take my soul as a Muslim and join me with the righteous.

Morning Dua Seeking Refuge in Allah’s Perfect Words

O Allah, by You we have reached the morning, and by You we have reached the evening, by You we live and die, and to You is the resurrection. I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of every venomous and harmful creature, and I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of His punishment and from the evil of His servants.

Allāhumma bika aṣbaḥnā, wa bika amsaynā, wa bika ḥayātunā wa mawtunā, wa ilayka-n-nushūr. Aʿūdhu bi-kalimāti-llāhi-t-tāmmāti min sharri-s-sāmmati wa-l-hāmmah, wa aʿūdhu bi-kalimāti-llāhi-t-tāmmati min sharri ʿiqābihi, wa sharri ʿibādih.

Evening Protection from Satan and Harm

We have reached the evening, and the dominion has reached the evening belonging to Allah; all praise is for Allah, all of it is for Allah. I seek refuge in Allah, who holds the sky from falling upon the earth except by His permission, from the evil of what He created and brought into being, and from the evil of Satan and his polytheism.

Amsaynā wa amsā-l-mulku lillāhi, wa-l-ḥamdu lillāhi, kulluhu lillāhi, aʿūdhu bi-llāhi-lladhī yumsiku-s-samāʾa an taqaʿa ʿalā-l-arḍi illā bi-idhnihi min sharri mā khalaqa wa dharaʾa, wa min sharri-sh-shayṭāni wa shirkihi.

Morning and Evening Words of Protection

Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him. There is no might and no power except with Allah. What Allah wills is, and what He does not will is not. I know that Allah has power over all things, and that Allah encompasses all things in knowledge.

Subḥāna-llāhi wa-biḥamdihi, wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā bi-llāhi, mā shāʾa-llāhu kāna, wa mā lam yashaʾ lam yakun, aʿlamu anna-llāha ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīrun, wa anna-llāha qad aḥāṭa bi-kulli shayʾin ʿilman

Praising Allah Before Whose Greatness Everything Humbles Itself

All praise is for Allah, to whose greatness everything has humbled itself; all praise is for Allah, to whose might everything has become lowly; and all praise is for Allah, to whose dominion everything has been made to submit.

Al-ḥamdu li-llāhi-lladhī tawāḍaʿa kullu shayʾin li-ʿaẓamatih, wa-l-ḥamdu li-llāhi-lladhī dhalla kullu shayʾin li-ʿizzatih, wa-l-ḥamdu li-llāhi-lladhī ukhḍiʿa kullu shayʾin li-mulkih.

We have reached the morning, and all praise belongs to Allah. He has no partner. There is no god but Allah, and to Him is the resurrection.

Aṣbaḥnā wa-aṣbaḥa-l-ḥamdu kulluhu li-llāhi, lā sharīka lahu, lā ilāha illā-llāhu, wa-ilayhi-n-nushūru.

O Allah, You are my Lord, You have no partner. I have reached the morning, and the dominion has reached the morning belonging to Allah, who has no partner.

All praise is for Allah, my Lord; I associate nothing with Him. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah.

Al-ḥamdu lillāhi rabbī lā ushriku bihi shayʾan, ashhadu an lā ilāha illā-llāh

Asking for Sudden Good and Refuge from Sudden Evil

O Allah, I ask You for the sudden arrival of good, and I seek refuge in You from the sudden arrival of evil.

Morning Protection for Self, Family and Wealth

Seeking Refuge in Allah and the Verse of the Kursī

I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the accursed. His Kursī extends over the heavens and the earth, and guarding them does not burden Him. And He is the Most High, the Magnificent.

Aʿūdhu bi-llāhi mina-sh-shayṭāni-r-rajīm. Allāhu lā ilāha illā huwa-l-ḥayyu-l-qayyūm, lā taʾkhudhuhu sinatun wa lā nawm, lahu mā fi-s-samāwāti wa mā fi-l-arḍ, man dhā-lladhī yashfaʿu ʿindahu illā bi-idhnihi, yaʿlamu mā bayna aydīhim wa mā khalfahum, wa lā yuḥīṭūna bi-shayʾin min ʿilmihi illā bi-mā shāʾ, wasiʿa kursiyyuhu-s-samāwāti wa-l-arḍ, wa lā yaʾūduhu ḥifẓuhumā, wa huwa-l-ʿaliyyu-l-ʿaẓīm.

The Master Prayer for Seeking Forgiveness

O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant, and I hold to Your covenant and Your promise as far as I am able. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge to You Your favour upon me, and I acknowledge to You my sin; so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.

Morning, Evening and Bedtime Refuge in Allah

Reciting the Three Quls for Protection

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. Say: He is Allah, One. Allah is the Eternal Refuge. He has not begotten, nor was He begotten, and there is none comparable to Him. In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak, from the evil of what He has created, from the evil of darkness when it settles, from the evil of those who blow on knots, and from the evil of an envier when he envies. In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, the King of mankind, the Deity of mankind, from the evil of the whispering withdrawer, who whispers in the breasts of mankind, from among jinn and mankind.
