    Meaning
Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are signs for people of understanding. Those who remember Allah standing, sitting, and lying on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth: “Our Lord, You did not create this in vain. Glory be to You; so protect us from the punishment of the Fire. Our Lord, whoever You admit into the Fire, You have truly disgraced him, and the wrongdoers have no helpers. Our Lord, we heard a caller calling to faith: ‘Believe in your Lord,’ and we believed. Our Lord, forgive us our sins, erase from us our misdeeds, and take our souls in death with the righteous. Our Lord, give us what You promised us through Your messengers, and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, You never break the promise.” Then their Lord answered them: “I will not let the work of any worker among you go to waste, whether male or female; you are one from another. So those who emigrated, were driven out of their homes, were harmed in My cause, and fought and were killed, I will surely erase their misdeeds and surely admit them into gardens beneath which rivers flow, as a reward from Allah. And with Allah is the best reward.” Do not let the free movement of those who disbelieve through the lands deceive you. It is a little enjoyment; then their refuge is Hell, and wretched is that resting place. But those who were mindful of their Lord will have gardens beneath which rivers flow, there to stay forever, a welcome from Allah. And what is with Allah is better for the righteous. And indeed, among the People of the Book are some who believe in Allah, in what was sent down to you and in what was sent down to them, humbling themselves before Allah; they do not sell the verses of Allah for a small price. Those will have their reward with their Lord. Indeed, Allah is swift in reckoning. O you who believe, be patient, outdo others in patience, stand firm at your post, and be mindful of Allah, so that you may succeed.

    Meaning
O Allah, I ask You for a mercy from You with which You guide my heart, gather my scattered affairs, set right my disorder, restore my affection, rectify my religion, protect what is absent from me, raise what is present with me, purify my deeds, brighten my face, inspire me with my right guidance, and protect me from every evil. O Allah, grant me true faith, and certainty after which there is no disbelief, and a mercy by which I attain the honour of Your generosity in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for success at the meeting, the abode of the martyrs, the life of the fortunate, the companionship of the prophets, and victory over the enemies. O Allah, I have laid my need before You, even if my judgement falls short and my deeds are weak, and I am in need of Your mercy. So I ask You, O Decider of all matters and O Healer of the breasts, as You grant protection between the seas, to protect me from the punishment of the Blaze, from the cry of destruction, and from the trial of the graves. O Allah, whatever my judgement falls short of, whatever my deeds are too weak for, and whatever my wish has not reached, of any good You have promised to one of Your servants or any good You will give to one of Your creation, I turn to You in desire for it and I ask You for it, O Lord of the worlds. O Allah, make us guides who are rightly guided, neither astray nor misleading, at war with Your enemies and at peace with Your friends. Through Your love we love people, and through Your enmity we oppose whoever among Your creation opposes You. O Allah, this is the supplication, and the response rests upon You. O Allah, this is the effort, and reliance is upon You. There is no might and no power except with Allah. O Allah, Owner of the firm rope and the sound command, I ask You for security on the Day of the Threat, and Paradise on the Day of Eternity, with those brought near who bear witness, those who bow and prostrate, and those who fulfil their covenants. Indeed You are Merciful and Loving, and indeed You do what You will. Glory be to Him Who clothed Himself in might and spoke by it. Glory be to Him Whom it is not fitting to glorify except Him. Glory be to the Possessor of might and splendour. Glory be to the Possessor of power and generosity. Glory be to Him Who has counted everything by His knowledge. O Allah, place light in my heart, light in my grave, light in my hearing, light in my sight, light in my hair, light in my skin, light in my flesh, light in my blood, light in my bones, light before me, light behind me, light on my right, light on my left, light above me, and light below me. O Allah, increase me in light, make light great for me, and grant me light.
