    Meaning
I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan. The Messenger believes in what was sent down to him from his Lord, and so do the believers. Each one believes in Allah, His angels, His books and His messengers: “We make no distinction between any of His messengers.” And they say, “We hear and we obey. Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the final return.” Allah does not burden any soul beyond its capacity. It has what it has earned, and against it is what it has incurred. “Our Lord, do not hold us to account if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord, do not lay on us a heavy burden as You laid on those before us. Our Lord, do not make us carry what we have no strength for. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us. You are our Protector, so help us against the disbelieving people.”

    Meaning
O Allah, I ask You for a mercy from You with which You guide my heart, gather my scattered affairs, set right my disorder, restore my affection, rectify my religion, protect what is absent from me, raise what is present with me, purify my deeds, brighten my face, inspire me with my right guidance, and protect me from every evil. O Allah, grant me true faith, and certainty after which there is no disbelief, and a mercy by which I attain the honour of Your generosity in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for success at the meeting, the abode of the martyrs, the life of the fortunate, the companionship of the prophets, and victory over the enemies. O Allah, I have laid my need before You, even if my judgement falls short and my deeds are weak, and I am in need of Your mercy. So I ask You, O Decider of all matters and O Healer of the breasts, as You grant protection between the seas, to protect me from the punishment of the Blaze, from the cry of destruction, and from the trial of the graves. O Allah, whatever my judgement falls short of, whatever my deeds are too weak for, and whatever my wish has not reached, of any good You have promised to one of Your servants or any good You will give to one of Your creation, I turn to You in desire for it and I ask You for it, O Lord of the worlds. O Allah, make us guides who are rightly guided, neither astray nor misleading, at war with Your enemies and at peace with Your friends. Through Your love we love people, and through Your enmity we oppose whoever among Your creation opposes You. O Allah, this is the supplication, and the response rests upon You. O Allah, this is the effort, and reliance is upon You. There is no might and no power except with Allah. O Allah, Owner of the firm rope and the sound command, I ask You for security on the Day of the Threat, and Paradise on the Day of Eternity, with those brought near who bear witness, those who bow and prostrate, and those who fulfil their covenants. Indeed You are Merciful and Loving, and indeed You do what You will. Glory be to Him Who clothed Himself in might and spoke by it. Glory be to Him Whom it is not fitting to glorify except Him. Glory be to the Possessor of might and splendour. Glory be to the Possessor of power and generosity. Glory be to Him Who has counted everything by His knowledge. O Allah, place light in my heart, light in my grave, light in my hearing, light in my sight, light in my hair, light in my skin, light in my flesh, light in my blood, light in my bones, light before me, light behind me, light on my right, light on my left, light above me, and light below me. O Allah, increase me in light, make light great for me, and grant me light.
