You fled without looking back while the Messenger was calling out to you from behind, and God rewarded you with sorrow for sorrow. [He has now forgiven you] so that you may not grieve for what you missed or for what happened to you. God is well aware of everything you do.

And so, because they rejected Our signs and paid them no heed, We exacted retribution from them: We drowned them in the sea
- 7:204 Al-A'raf وَإِذَا قُرِئَ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ فَٱسْتَمِعُوا۟ لَهُۥ وَأَنصِتُوا۟ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ so pay attention and listen quietly when the Quran is recited, so that you may be given mercy.’

It is He who made the night so that you can rest in it and the daylight so that you can see- there truly are signs in this for those who hear.
Today We shall save only your corpse as a sign to all posterity. A great many people fail to heed Our signs.’
We tell you [Prophet] the best of stories in revealing this Quran to you. Before this you were one of those who knew nothing about them.

Only those with understanding will take it to heart;
This is a message to all people, so that they may be warned by it, and know that He is the only God, and so that those who have minds may take heed.

Speak to him gently so that he may take heed, or show respect.’

- 28:46 Al-Qasas وَمَا كُنتَ بِجَانِبِ ٱلطُّورِ إِذْ نَادَيْنَا وَلَـٰكِن رَّحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ لِتُنذِرَ قَوْمًا مَّآ أَتَىٰهُم مِّن نَّذِيرٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ nor were you present on the side of Mount Sinai when We called out to Moses. - 30:7 Ar-Rum يَعْلَمُونَ ظَـٰهِرًا مِّنَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَهُمْ عَنِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ هُمْ غَـٰفِلُونَ they only know the outer surface of this present life and are heedless of the life to come.
Among His signs are your sleep, by night and by day, and your seeking His bounty. There truly are signs in this for those who can hear.
Is it not a lesson for them [to see] how many generations We destroyed before them, in whose homes they now walk? Will you [people] not take heed?
