Samiri السامرى
Samiri (السامرى) is mentioned in the Quran as the one who turned against Musa (Moses) and misled people to worship the Golden calf.
Ayat
- 20:85 Taha قَالَ فَإِنَّا قَدْ فَتَنَّا قَوْمَكَ مِنۢ بَعْدِكَ وَأَضَلَّهُمُ ٱلسَّامِرِىُّ but God said, ‘We have tested your people in your absence: the Samiri has led them astray.’
- 20:87 Taha قَالُوا۟ مَآ أَخْلَفْنَا مَوْعِدَكَ بِمَلْكِنَا وَلَـٰكِنَّا حُمِّلْنَآ أَوْزَارًا مِّن زِينَةِ ٱلْقَوْمِ فَقَذَفْنَـٰهَا فَكَذَٰلِكَ أَلْقَى ٱلسَّامِرِىُّ They said, ‘We did not break our word to you deliberately. We were burdened with the weight of people’s jewellery, so we threw it [into the fire], and the Samiri did the same,’
- 20:95 Taha قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكَ يَـٰسَـٰمِرِىُّ Moses said, ‘And what was the matter with you, Samiri?’
