- 2:79 Al-Baqarah فَوَيْلٌوَوَيْلٌ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ يَكْتُبُونَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ ثُمَّ يَقُولُونَ هَـٰذَا مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ لِيَشْتَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا ۖ فَوَيْلٌ لَّهُم مِّمَّا كَتَبَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَوَيْلٌ لَّهُم مِّمَّا يَكْسِبُونَ So woe to those who write something down with their own hands and then claim, ‘This is from God,’ in order to make some small gain. Woe to them for what their hands have written! Woe to them for all that they have earned!
- 5:31 Al-Ma'idah يَـٰوَيْلَتَىٰٓ فَبَعَثَ ٱللَّهُ غُرَابًا يَبْحَثُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لِيُرِيَهُۥ كَيْفَ يُوَٰرِى سَوْءَةَ أَخِيهِ ۚ قَالَ يَـٰوَيْلَتَىٰٓ أَعَجَزْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِثْلَ هَـٰذَا ٱلْغُرَابِ فَأُوَٰرِىَ سَوْءَةَ أَخِى ۖ فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ ٱلنَّـٰدِمِينَ God sent a raven to scratch up the ground and show him how to cover his brother’s corpse and he said, ‘Woe is me! Could I not have been like this raven and covered up my brother’s body?’ He became remorseful.
- 11:72 Hud يَـٰوَيْلَتَىٰٓ قَالَتْ يَـٰوَيْلَتَىٰٓ ءَأَلِدُ وَأَنَا۠ عَجُوزٌ وَهَـٰذَا بَعْلِى شَيْخًا ۖ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَشَىْءٌ عَجِيبٌ She said, ‘Alas for me! How am I to bear a child when I am an old woman, and my husband here is an old man? That would be a strange thing!’
- 14:2 Ibrahim وَوَيْلٌ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ وَوَيْلٌ لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ شَدِيدٍ God, to whom everything in the heavens and earth belongs. How terrible will be the torment of those who ignore [Him],
- 18:49 Al-Kahf يَـٰوَيْلَتَنَا وَوُضِعَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبُ فَتَرَى ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ مُشْفِقِينَ مِمَّا فِيهِ وَيَقُولُونَ يَـٰوَيْلَتَنَا مَالِ هَـٰذَا ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَا يُغَادِرُ صَغِيرَةً وَلَا كَبِيرَةً إِلَّآ أَحْصَىٰهَا ۚ وَوَجَدُوا۟ مَا عَمِلُوا۟ حَاضِرًا ۗ وَلَا يَظْلِمُ رَبُّكَ أَحَدًا The record of their deeds will be laid open and you will see the guilty, dismayed at what they contain, saying, ‘Woe to us! What a record this is! It does not leave any deed, small or large, unaccounted for!’ They will find everything they ever did laid in front of them: your Lord will not be unjust to anyone.
- 19:37 Maryam فَوَيْلٌ فَٱخْتَلَفَ ٱلْأَحْزَابُ مِنۢ بَيْنِهِمْ ۖ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن مَّشْهَدِ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ But factions have differed among themselves. What suffering will come to those who obscure the truth when a dreadful Day arrives!
- 20:61 Taha وَيْلَكُمْ قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰ وَيْلَكُمْ لَا تَفْتَرُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا فَيُسْحِتَكُم بِعَذَابٍ ۖ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ Moses said to them, ‘Beware, do not invent lies against God or He will destroy you with His punishment. Whoever invents lies will fail.’
- 21:14 Al-Anbya يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ قَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ They said, ‘Woe to us! We were wrong!’
- 21:18 Al-Anbya ٱلْوَيْلُ بَلْ نَقْذِفُ بِٱلْحَقِّ عَلَى ٱلْبَـٰطِلِ فَيَدْمَغُهُۥ فَإِذَا هُوَ زَاهِقٌ ۚ وَلَكُمُ ٱلْوَيْلُ مِمَّا تَصِفُونَ No! We hurl the truth against falsehood, and truth obliterates it- see how falsehood vanishes away! Woe to you [people] for the way you describe God!
- 21:46 Al-Anbya يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ وَلَئِن مَّسَّتْهُمْ نَفْحَةٌ مِّنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّكَ لَيَقُولُنَّ يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ yet if a mere breath of your Lord’s punishment touches them, they will be sure to cry, ‘Woe to us! We were wrong!’
- 21:97 Al-Anbya يَـٰوَيْلَنَا وَٱقْتَرَبَ ٱلْوَعْدُ ٱلْحَقُّ فَإِذَا هِىَ شَـٰخِصَةٌ أَبْصَـٰرُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَا قَدْ كُنَّا فِى غَفْلَةٍ مِّنْ هَـٰذَا بَلْ كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ when the True Promise draws near, the disbelievers’ eyes will stare in terror, and they will say, ‘Woe to us! We were not aware of this at all. We were wrong.’
- 25:28 Al-Furqan يَـٰوَيْلَتَىٰ يَـٰوَيْلَتَىٰ لَيْتَنِى لَمْ أَتَّخِذْ فُلَانًا خَلِيلًا Woe is me! If only I had not taken so and so as a friend-
- 28:80 Al-Qasas وَيْلَكُمْ وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمَ وَيْلَكُمْ ثَوَابُ ٱللَّهِ خَيْرٌ لِّمَنْ ءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَـٰلِحًا وَلَا يُلَقَّىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلصَّـٰبِرُونَ but those who were given knowledge said, ‘Alas for you! God’s reward is better for those who believe and do good deeds: only those who are steadfast will attain this.’
- 36:52 Ya-Sin يَـٰوَيْلَنَا قَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَا مَنۢ بَعَثَنَا مِن مَّرْقَدِنَا ۜ ۗ هَـٰذَا مَا وَعَدَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَصَدَقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ They will say, ‘Alas for us! Who has resurrected us from our resting places?’ [They will be told], ‘This is what the Lord of Mercy promised, and the messengers told the truth.’
- 37:20 As-Saffat يَـٰوَيْلَنَا وَقَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَا هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ and say, ‘Woe to us! This is the Day of Judgement.’
- 38:27 Sad فَوَيْلٌ وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا بَـٰطِلًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ظَنُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ۚ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ It was not without purpose that We created the heavens and the earth and everything in between. That may be what the disbelievers assume- how they will suffer from the Fire!-
- 39:22 Az-Zumar فَوَيْلٌ أَفَمَن شَرَحَ ٱللَّهُ صَدْرَهُۥ لِلْإِسْلَـٰمِ فَهُوَ عَلَىٰ نُورٍ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ ۚ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلْقَـٰسِيَةِ قُلُوبُهُم مِّن ذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ What about the one whose heart God has opened in devotion to Him, so that he walks in light from his Lord? Alas for those whose hearts harden at the mention of God! They have clearly lost their way.
- 41:6 Fussilat وَوَيْلٌ قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ أَنَّمَآ إِلَـٰهُكُمْ إِلَـٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ فَٱسْتَقِيمُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ وَٱسْتَغْفِرُوهُ ۗ وَوَيْلٌ لِّلْمُشْرِكِينَ Say [Prophet], ‘I am only a mortal like you, [but] it has been revealed to me that your God is One. Take the straight path to Him and seek His forgiveness. Woe to the idolaters,
- 43:65 Az-Zukhruf فَوَيْلٌ فَٱخْتَلَفَ ٱلْأَحْزَابُ مِنۢ بَيْنِهِمْ ۖ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمٍ أَلِيمٍ Yet still the different factions among them disagreed- woe to the evildoers: they will suffer the torment of a grievous day!-
- 45:7 Al-Jathiyah وَيْلٌ وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ Woe to every lying sinful person
- 46:17 Al-Ahqaf وَيْلَكَ وَٱلَّذِى قَالَ لِوَٰلِدَيْهِ أُفٍّ لَّكُمَآ أَتَعِدَانِنِىٓ أَنْ أُخْرَجَ وَقَدْ خَلَتِ ٱلْقُرُونُ مِن قَبْلِى وَهُمَا يَسْتَغِيثَانِ ٱللَّهَ وَيْلَكَ ءَامِنْ إِنَّ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقٌّ فَيَقُولُ مَا هَـٰذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ But some say to their parents, ‘What? Are you really warning me that I shall be raised alive from my grave, when so many generations have already passed and gone before me?’ His parents implore God for help; they say, ‘Alas for you! Believe! God’s promise is true,’ but still he replies, ‘These are nothing but ancient fables.’
- 51:60 Adh-Dhariyat فَوَيْلٌ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن يَوْمِهِمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ and woe betide those who deny the truth on the Day they have been promised.
- 52:11 At-Tur فَوَيْلٌ فَوَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe on that Day to those who deny the Truth,
- 68:31 Al-Qalam يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ قَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا طَـٰغِينَ They said, ‘Alas for us! We have done terrible wrong,
- 77:15 Al-Mursalat وَيْلٌ وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!
- 77:19 Al-Mursalat وَيْلٌ وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!
- 77:24 Al-Mursalat وَيْلٌ وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!
- 77:28 Al-Mursalat وَيْلٌ وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!
- 77:34 Al-Mursalat وَيْلٌ وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!
- 77:37 Al-Mursalat وَيْلٌ وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!
- 77:40 Al-Mursalat وَيْلٌ وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!
- 77:45 Al-Mursalat وَيْلٌ وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!
- 77:47 Al-Mursalat وَيْلٌ وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!
- 77:49 Al-Mursalat وَيْلٌ وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!
- 83:1 Al-Mutaffifin وَيْلٌ وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ Woe to those who give short measure,
- 83:10 Al-Mutaffifin وَيْلٌ وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe on that day to the deniers,
- 104:1 Al-Humazah وَيْلٌ وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُّمَزَةٍ Woe to every fault-finding backbiter
- 107:4 Al-Ma'un فَوَيْلٌ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلْمُصَلِّينَ So woe to those who pray
