Ashura کے بارے میں
Ashura falls on the 10th of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar. Ashura 2026 is expected on June 25, 2026. It is a day of great historical significance in Islam, and fasting on this day is a confirmed Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Ashura is historically significant as the day when Allah saved Prophet Musa (Moses, peace be upon him) and the Children of Israel from Pharaoh by parting the Red Sea. When Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) arrived in Madinah and found the Jews fasting on this day, he said: "We are more deserving of Musa than you" and commanded the Muslims to fast. He later recommended fasting on the 9th and 10th (or the 10th and 11th) of Muharram to distinguish the Muslim practice.

اکثر پوچھے گئے سوالات
When is Ashura 2026?
Ashura 2026 is expected on June 25, 2026, falling on the 10th of Muharram. The recommended fast includes the 9th and 10th of Muharram (Tasu'a and Ashura).
Is fasting on Ashura obligatory?
Fasting on Ashura is not obligatory (fard) but is a confirmed Sunnah (Sunnah mu'akkadah). Before Ramadan fasting was made obligatory, fasting on Ashura was compulsory. After the command to fast in Ramadan, it became voluntary but highly recommended. The Prophet (PBUH) said: "Fasting on the Day of Ashura, I hope Allah will expiate the sins of the year before it" (Sahih Muslim).
Why fast on the 9th and 10th of Muharram?
The Prophet (PBUH) recommended fasting on both the 9th (Tasu'a) and 10th (Ashura) of Muharram in order to distinguish the Muslim fast from the Jewish practice of fasting only on the 10th. Some scholars also mention fasting on the 10th and 11th as an alternative. Fasting on Ashura alone is also valid and rewarded.
