Sūrat al-Fātiḥa: Praising Allah and Asking Guidance

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ ، اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ ، الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ ، مٰلِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّيْنِ ، إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِيْنُ ، اِهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيْمَ ، صِرَاطَ الَّذِيْنَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوْبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّآلِّيْنَ.

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. Praise is for Allah, Lord of the worlds, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful, Master of the Day of Recompense. You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us to the straight path, the path of those You have favoured, not of those who earned anger, nor of those who went astray.

Bismi-llāhi-r-raḥmāni-r-raḥīm. Al-ḥamdu li-llāhi rabbi-l-ʿālamīn. Ar-raḥmāni-r-raḥīm. Māliki yawmi-d-dīn. Iyyāka naʿbudu wa-iyyāka nastaʿīn. Ihdinā-ṣ-ṣirāṭa-l-mustaqīm. Ṣirāṭa-lladhīna anʿamta ʿalayhim ghayri-l-maghḍūbi ʿalayhim wa-lā-ḍ-ḍāllīn.

Keeping Hearts Firm After Guidance

رَبَّنَا لَا تُزِغْ قُلُوْبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِنْ لَّدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْوَهَّابُ.

Our Lord, do not let our hearts swerve after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from Yourself. Truly, You are the Ever-Giving.

Rabbanā lā tuzigh qulūbanā baʿda idh hadaytanā wa-hab lanā min ladunka raḥmatan, innaka anta-l-wahhāb

Forgive My Sin and Remove My Heart's Anger

اَللّٰهُمَّ رَبَّ مُحَمَّدٍ اغْفِرْ لِيْ ذَنْبِيْ ، وَأَذْهِبْ غَيْظَ قَلْبِيْ ، وَأَجِرْنِي مِنْ مُضِلَّاتِ الْفِتَنِ.

O Allah, Lord of Muhammad, forgive me my sin, take away the anger of my heart, and protect me from the misleading trials.

Allāhumma rabba Muḥammadini-ghfir lī dhanbī, wa-adhhib ghayẓa qalbī, wa-ajirnī min muḍillāti-l-fitan

Asking for Lasting Faith and Paradise

اَللّٰهُمَّ إنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ إِيْمَانًا لَّا يَرْتَدُّ ، وَنَعِيْمًا لَّا يَنْفَدُ ، وَمُرَافَقَةَ نَبِيِّنَا مُحَمَّدٍ فِيْ أَعْلَىٰ جَنَّةِ الْخُلْدِ.

O Allah, I ask You for faith that does not turn back, blessings that do not run out, and the company of our Prophet Muhammad in the highest Garden of Eternity.

Allāhumma innī asʾaluka īmānan lā yartaddu, wa naʿīman lā yanfadu, wa murāfaqata nabiyyinā Muḥammadin fī aʿlā jannati-l-khuld.

Supplication of the Prophet (peace be upon him) on the Day of Uḥud

اَللّٰهُمَّ ابْسُطْ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ بَرَكَاتِكَ وَرَحْمَتِكَ وَفَضْلِكَ وَرِزْقِكَ ، اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ النَّعِيْمَ الْمُقِيْمَ الَّذِيْ لَا يَحُوْلُ وَلَا يَزُوْلُ ، اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ النَّعِيْمَ يَوْمَ الْعَيْلَةِ ، وَالْأَمْنَ يَوْمَ الْخَوْفِ ، اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ عَائِذٌ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَعْطَيْتَنَا وَشَرِّ مَا مَنَعْتَ ، اَللّٰهُمَّ حَبِّبْ إِلَيْنَا الْإِيْمَانَ وَزَيِّنْهُ فِيْ قُلُوْبِنَا ، وَكَرِّهْ إِلَيْنَا الْكُفْرَ وَالْفُسُوْقَ وَالْعِصْيَانَ ، وَاجْعَلْنَا مِنَ الرَّاشِدِيْنَ ، اَللّٰهُمَّ تَوَفَّنَا مُسْلِمِيْنَ ، وَأَحْيِنَا مُسْلِمِيْنَ ، وَأَلْحِقْنَا بِالصَّالِحِيْنَ ، غَيْرَ خَزَايَا وَلَا مَفْتُوْنِيْنَ ، اَللّٰهُمَّ قَاتِلِ الْكَفَرَةَ الَّذِيْنَ يُكَذِّبُوْنَ رُسُلَكَ ، وَيَصُدُّوْنَ عَنْ سَبِيْلِكَ ، وَاجْعَلْ عَلَيْهِمْ رِجْزَكَ وَعَذَابَكَ ، اَللّٰهُمَّ قَاتِلِ الْكَفَرَةَ الَّذِيْنَ أُوْتُوا الْكِتَابَ ، إِلٰهَ الْحَقِّ.

O Allah, spread over us of Your blessings, Your mercy, Your bounty and Your provision. O Allah, I ask You for the lasting bliss that neither shifts nor ends. O Allah, I ask You for bliss on the day of want and security on the day of fear. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of what You have given us and the evil of what You have withheld. O Allah, make faith beloved to us and adorn it in our hearts, make disbelief, wickedness and disobedience hateful to us, and make us among the rightly guided. O Allah, take us in death as Muslims, keep us alive as Muslims, and join us with the righteous, neither disgraced nor led into trial. O Allah, fight the disbelievers who deny Your messengers and turn people away from Your path, and send down on them Your wrath and Your punishment. O Allah, fight the disbelievers who were given the Scripture, O God of truth.

Allāhumma-bsuṭ ʿalaynā min barakātika wa raḥmatika wa faḍlika wa rizqik. Allāhumma innī asʾaluka-n-naʿīma-l-muqīma-lladhī lā yaḥūlu wa lā yazūl. Allāhumma innī asʾaluka-n-naʿīma yawma-l-ʿaylah, wa-l-amna yawma-l-khawf. Allāhumma innī ʿāʾidhun bika min sharri mā aʿṭaytanā wa sharri mā manaʿt. Allāhumma ḥabbib ilaynā-l-īmāna wa zayyinhu fī qulūbinā, wa karrih ilaynā-l-kufra wa-l-fusūqa wa-l-ʿiṣyān, wa-jʿalnā mina-r-rāshidīn. Allāhumma tawaffanā muslimīn, wa aḥyinā muslimīn, wa alḥiqnā bi-ṣ-ṣāliḥīn, ghayra khazāyā wa lā maftūnīn. Allāhumma qātili-l-kafarata-lladhīna yukadhdhibūna rusulaka wa yaṣuddūna ʿan sabīlik, wa-jʿal ʿalayhim rijzaka wa ʿadhābak. Allāhumma qātili-l-kafarata-lladhīna ūtu-l-kitāb, ilāha-l-ḥaqq.

Seeking Help Through Allah's Mercy Morning and Evening

يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّوْمُ ، بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَسْتَغِيْثُ ، أَصْلِحْ لِيْ شَأْنِيْ كُلَّهُ ، وَلَا تَكِلْنِيْ إِلَىٰ نَفْسِيْ طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ.

O Ever-Living, O Self-Sustaining, I seek help through Your mercy. Set right all my affairs for me, and do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye.

Yā ḥayyu yā qayyūmu, bi-raḥmatika astaghīthu, aṣliḥ lī shaʾnī kullahu, wa-lā takilnī ilā nafsī ṭarfata ʿayn

Asking Allah to Renew Faith in the Heart

اَللّٰهُمَّ جَدِّدِ الْإِيْمَانَ فِيْ قَلْبِيْ

O Allah, renew faith in my heart.

Allāhumma jaddidi-l-īmāna fī qalbī

Turner of Hearts, Keep My Heart Firm

يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوْبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِيْ عَلَىٰ دِيْنِكَ

O Turner of hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion.

Yā muqalliba-l-qulūbi thabbit qalbī ʿalā dīnik.

O Guardian of Islam, Keep Me Firm

يَا وَلِيَّ الْإسْلَامِ وَأَهْلِهِ ، ثَبِّتْنِيْ بِهِ حَتَّىٰ أَلْقَاكَ

O Guardian of Islam and its people, keep me firm upon it until I meet You.

Yā waliyya-l-islāmi wa-ahlihi thabbitnī bihi ḥattā alqāk.

Prayer for Guidance and Right Direction

اَللّٰهُمَّ اهْدِنِيْ وَسَدِّدْنِيْ ، اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ الْهُدَىٰ وَالسَّدَادَ.

O Allah, guide me and keep me on the right course. O Allah, I ask You for guidance and for rightness.

Allāhumma-hdinī wa-saddidnī, Allāhumma innī asʾaluka-l-hudā wa-s-sadād.

Submission, Reliance and Seeking Refuge from Misguidance

اَللّٰهُمَّ لَكَ أَسْلَمْتُ ، وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ ، وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ ، وَإِلَيْكَ أَنَبْتُ ، وَبِكَ خَاصَمْتُ ، اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَعُوْذُ بِعِزَّتِكَ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ أَنْ تُضِلَّنِيْ ، أَنْتَ الْحَيُّ الَّذِيْ لَا يَمُوْتُ ، وَالْجِنُّ وَالْإِنْسُ يَمُوْتُوْنَ.

O Allah, to You I have submitted, in You I have believed, upon You I have relied, to You I have turned in repentance, and by Your help I have argued. O Allah, I seek refuge in Your might, there is no god but You, from Your leading me astray. You are the Ever-Living who never dies, while jinn and humans die.

Allāhumma laka aslamtu, wa-bika āmantu, wa-ʿalayka tawakkaltu, wa-ilayka anabtu, wa-bika khāṣamtu. Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bi-ʿizzatika lā ilāha illā anta an tuḍillanī, anta-l-ḥayyu-lladhī lā yamūtu, wa-l-jinnu wa-l-insu yamūtūn.

Refuge from Knowingly Associating Partners with Allah

اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَعُوْذُ بِكَ أَنْ أُشْرِكَ بِكَ وَأَنَا أَعْلَمُ ، وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِمَا لَا أَعْلَمُ.

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from associating anything with You while I know it, and I ask Your forgiveness for what I do not know.

Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika an ushrika bika wa-anā aʿlam, wa-astaghfiruka limā lā aʿlam.

Refuge from Miserliness, Cowardice, and Old Age

اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنّيْ أَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْبُخْلِ ، وَأَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْجُبْنِ ، وَأَعُوْذُ بِكَ أَنْ أُرَدَّ إِلَىٰ أَرْذَلِ الْعُمُرِ ، وَأَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الدُّنْيَا ، وَأَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ.

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from miserliness, and I seek refuge in You from cowardice, and I seek refuge in You from being sent back to the most worthless stage of life, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of this world, and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave.

Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika mina-l-bukhli, wa aʿūdhu bika mina-l-jubni, wa aʿūdhu bika an uradda ilā ardhali-l-ʿumri, wa aʿūdhu bika min fitnati-d-dunyā, wa aʿūdhu bika min ʿadhābi-l-qabr.

Asking Allah to Keep the Heart Firm

يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوْبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِيْ عَلَىٰ دِيْنِكَ

O Turner of hearts, make my heart stand firm on Your religion.

Yā muqalliba-l-qulūbi thabbit qalbī ʿalā dīnik.

Declaring Belief in Allah and His Messengers

آمَنْتُ بِاللهِ وَرُسُلِهِ

I believe in Allah and in His messengers.

Āmantu bi-llāhi wa-rusulihi.

Allah the First, Last, Manifest and Hidden

هُوَ الْأَوَّلُ وَالْآخِرُ وَالظَّاهِرُ وَالْبَاطِنُ ، وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيْمٌ

He is the First and the Last, the Manifest and the Hidden, and He has knowledge of all things.

Huwa-l-awwalu wa-l-ākhiru wa-ẓ-ẓāhiru wa-l-bāṭinu, wa-huwa bi-kulli shayʾin ʿalīm.

Seeking Refuge From Knowing and Unknowing Shirk

اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَعُوْذُ بِكَ أَنْ أُشْرِكَ بِكَ وَأَنَا أَعْلَمُ ، وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِمَا لَا أَعْلَمُ

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from associating partners with You while I know, and I ask Your forgiveness for what I do not know.

Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika an ushrika bika wa-anā aʿlamu, wa-astaghfiruka li-mā lā aʿlam.

Words Against Taking Bad Omens

اَللّٰهُمَّ لَا طَيْرَ إِلَّا طَيْرُكَ ، وَلَا خَيْرَ إِلَّا خَيْرُكَ ، وَلَا إِلٰهَ غَيْرُكَ

O Allah, there is no omen except Your omen, no good except Your good, and no god other than You.

Allāhumma lā ṭayra illā ṭayruk, wa-lā khayra illā khayruk, wa-lā ilāha ghayruk.

Believing, Following the Messenger, Joining the Witnesses

رَبَّنَآ ءَامَنَّا بِمَآ أَنزَلْتَ وَٱتَّبَعْنَا ٱلرَّسُولَ فَٱكْتُبْنَا مَعَ ٱلشَّـٰهِدِينَ

Our Lord, we believe in what You have sent down, and we have followed the Messenger, so write us down among those who bear witness.

Rabbanā āmannā bimā anzalta wa-ttabaʿnā-r-rasūla fa-ktubnā maʿa-sh-shāhidīn

Ibrāhīm's Prayer for a Secure Land

رَبِّ ٱجْعَلْ هَـٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدَ ءَامِنًا وَٱجْنُبْنِى وَبَنِىَّ أَن نَّعْبُدَ ٱلْأَصْنَامَ

My Lord, make this land secure, and keep me and my sons far from worshipping idols.

Rabbi-jʿal hādhā-l-balada āminan wa-jnubnī wa-baniyya an naʿbuda-l-aṣnām.

Dua Not to Be Placed Among the Wrongdoers

رَبِّ فَلَا تَجْعَلْنِى فِى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

My Lord, then do not place me among the wrongdoing people.

Rabbi fa-lā tajʿalnī fi-l-qawmi-ẓ-ẓālimīn.

Dua for True Faith and Certainty

اللَّهُمَّ أَعْطِنِي إِيمَانًا صَادِقًا، وَيَقِينًا لَيْسَ بَعْدَهُ كُفْرٌ، وَرَحْمَةً أَنَالُ بِهَا شَرَفَ كَرَامَتِكَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ

O Allah, grant me true faith, and certainty after which there is no disbelief, and a mercy by which I attain the honour of Your generosity in this world and the Hereafter.

Allāhumma aʿṭinī īmānan ṣādiqan, wa yaqīnan laysa baʿdahu kufr, wa raḥmatan anālu bihā sharafa karāmatika fi-d-dunyā wa-l-ākhirah.

Words Against Troubling Whispers

الله أكبر الْحَمد لله الَّذِي رد كَيده إِلَى الوسوسة

Allah is the Greatest. Praise be to Allah who turned his scheming back to whispering.

Allāhu akbar, al-ḥamdu lillāhi-lladhī radda kaydahu ilā-l-waswasa
