Night Prayer Opening: Guide Me to the Truth

O Allah, Lord of Jabrāʾīl, Mīkāʾīl and Isrāfīl, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed: You judge between Your servants in what they used to differ over. Guide me, by Your leave, to the truth in what has been differed over; indeed You guide whom You will to a straight path.

Allāhumma rabba Jabrāʾīla wa-Mīkāʾīla wa-Isrāfīl, fāṭira-s-samāwāti wa-l-arḍ, ʿālima-l-ghaybi wa-sh-shahādah, anta taḥkumu bayna ʿibādika fīmā kānū fīhi yakhtalifūn. Ihdinī limā-khtulifa fīhi mina-l-ḥaqqi bi-idhnika, innaka tahdī man tashāʾu ilā ṣirāṭin mustaqīm.

Sūrat al-Fātiḥa: Praising Allah and Asking Guidance

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. Praise is for Allah, Lord of the worlds, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful, Master of the Day of Recompense. You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us to the straight path, the path of those You have favoured, not of those who earned anger, nor of those who went astray.

Bismi-llāhi-r-raḥmāni-r-raḥīm. Al-ḥamdu li-llāhi rabbi-l-ʿālamīn. Ar-raḥmāni-r-raḥīm. Māliki yawmi-d-dīn. Iyyāka naʿbudu wa-iyyāka nastaʿīn. Ihdinā-ṣ-ṣirāṭa-l-mustaqīm. Ṣirāṭa-lladhīna anʿamta ʿalayhim ghayri-l-maghḍūbi ʿalayhim wa-lā-ḍ-ḍāllīn.

O Allah, if You know that this matter (here he names his need) is good for me in my religion, my livelihood and the outcome of my affair, then decree it for me, make it easy for me, and then bless me in it. And if You know that this matter (here he names his need) is bad for me in my religion, my livelihood and the outcome of my affair, then turn it away from me and turn me away from it, and decree what is good for me wherever it may be, and then make me content with it.
