The heavens and the earth were created for a true, specific purpose: to reward each soul according to its deeds without it being wronged (45:22). This physical reality is bound to the principle that God does not will injustice for His creatures, a fact recited to the Prophet as the ultimate Truth (3:108). The text presents this absence of wrongdoing as an unalterable decree. God declares that His word cannot be changed, pairing this absolute permanence directly with the statement, "I am not unjust to any creature" (50:29).

How are human actions measured?

The physical weight of human action is evaluated with microscopic precision. When the scales of justice are set up for the Day of Resurrection, the accounting includes deeds as light as a single mustard seed (21:47). The text specifies that God does not wrong anyone by even the weight of a speck of dust (4:40). Instead of a strict mathematical equivalence, the accounting deliberately favors the individual. While wrong actions are weighed exactly as they are, any good deed of that same microscopic weight is doubled, followed by a tremendous reward granted directly from God Himself (4:40). Because God takes "excellent account," no fractional human effort is lost or ignored (21:47).

Who is responsible for earthly suffering?

When people face catastrophic ruin—such as the destroyed historical nations of Noah, Ad, Thamud, and those who came after them—their fate is not arbitrary, as God never wills injustice upon His creatures (40:31). Instead, the outcomes they experience are the direct manifestation of their own choices. A person facing judgment is explicitly told that their condition is simply the result of "what you have stored up with your own hands" (22:10). The moral boundary remains strictly individual: whoever does good acts for their own soul, and whoever commits evil acts against that same soul (41:46). Even when earthly misfortunes strike, they occur only with God's permission, while He guides the hearts of those who believe through such trials, knowing all things (64:11). The ultimate ruin of past generations stands as a severe reminder from God that He is never unjust in distributing consequences (26:209).

What happens during the final accounting?

The physical reading of individual records forms the climax of this absolute justice. The accounting is both collective and deeply personal. On the Day of Resurrection, each community will be summoned alongside its specific leader before the records of their lives are distributed (17:71). Those who receive their record in their right hand will read their ledgers with active pleasure. They will find that every speck of effort has been correctly attributed, and that no one will be wronged in the least (17:71).

Because God never wills injustice for His creatures, the final reckoning leaves no room for hidden merits to be forgotten or unearned burdens to be applied. The scales of justice will stand perfectly balanced to ensure no one is wronged in the slightest, and if there should be even the weight of a mustard seed, We shall bring it out (21:47).
